The information in this booklet is designed to help you study for the commercial driver license written and skills tests. I know that you will find the manual useful. The manual is also available via the Department of Motor Vehicle's Web site at [www.dmv.ne.state.us](www.dmv.ne.state.us) . \nBy reviewing the information in this manual you will increase your chances of passing the commercial driver license tests. You may also learn more about driving safely on our roads. These days Nebraskans are driving more vehicles, more miles. This increased traffic generally equates to higher crash rates. By being informed and by following the laws and rules of the road, you can reduce the likelihood that you will be involved in a crash. \nI wish you safe travels as you drive the many beautiful roads and highways of Nebraska. I also urge you to review the information in this manual from time to time for the safety of all who share our roads. \nSincerely, \nDave Heineman \nGovernor \nTable of Contents/2.0 Page 1 \nCOMMERCIAL VEHICLES: \nA – Combination of vehicles with Gross Combination Weight Rating (GCWR) of 26,001 or more pounds provided the GVWR of the vehicle(s) being towed is in excess of 10,000 pounds. \nB – Single vehicle with GVWR of 26,001 or more pounds, or any such vehicle towing a vehicle not in excess of 10,000 pounds. \nC – Single vehicle less that 26,001 pounds GVWR, or any such vehicle towing a vehicle not in excess of 10,000 pounds GVWR, comprising of vehicles required to be placarded for hazardous materials or any bus designed to transport 16 or more passengers including the driver. \nAny holder of a valid CDL is automatically licensed to drive a Class “O” vehicle (any non-CDL vehicle, excluding motorcycles) . \nAny holder of a Class “A” CDL is automatically licensed to drive a Class “B” and Class “C” commercial vehicle, if the appropriate endorsement appears on the license. \nAny holder of a Class “B” CDL is automatically licensed to drive a Class “C” commercial vehicle, if the appropriate endorsement appears on the license. \nCDL ENDORSEMENTS: \nH – Hazardous materials \nN – Tank vehicle P – Passenger S – School Bus \nT – Double/triple trailers \nX – Combination tank vehicle and hazardous materials \nCDL RESTRICTIONS: \nK-Intrastate Only \nL-Vehicles Without Air Brakes M-Except Class A Bus \nN-Except Class A and B Bus O-Except Tractor Trailer \nTANK VEHICLE DEFINITION: \nThe tank vehicle definition is as follows: “Tank vehicle means any commercial motor vehicles that is designed to transport any liquid or gaseous materials within a tank that is either permanently or temporarily attached to the vehicle or the chassis.
