....................................................................................................................... 5 \nPurpose \nThe National Dental Examining Board (NDEB) was established by an Act of Parliament in 1952. The Act states that the NDEB is responsible for the establishment of qualifying conditions for a national standard of dental competence for general practitioners, for establishing and maintaining an examination facility to test for this national standard, and for issuing certificates to dentists who successfully meet this national standard. \nThe NDEB works in collaboration with the Canadian Faculties of Dentistry, the Commission on Dental Accreditation of Canada, and the provincial Dental Regulatory Authorities to support quality dental care in Canada. \nMission \nContributing to the oral health of Canadians by providing a fair, valid, and reliable evaluation of competence for the certification of dentists. \nExaminations and Assessments \nThe NDEB is recognized for its innovation and is a world leader in high stakes examinations. Through international agreements the NDEB offers its examinations at home and abroad. \nThe Certification Process \nThe Certification Process leads to NDEB certification and licensure in Canada. Graduates of accredited dental programs (graduates of dental programs in Canada, the US, Australia, NewZealand, and Ireland) are eligible to write the Virtual OSCE, the certification examination. \nThe Equivalency Process \nThe Equivalency Process is a series of three examinations intended for graduates of nonaccredited dental programs. Successful completion of the three examinations allows graduates of non-accredited dental programs to write the certification examinations. The three assessments are: \n• the Assessment of Fundamental Knowledge (AFK) \n• the Assessment of Clinical Judgement (ACJ) \n• the NDECC (a skills test) \nThe Board (i.e. corporation) is empowered under section 8(1) of the Act “to make such by-laws and regulations, not contrary to law or the provisions of this Act, as it may deem necessary or adv","cbCainfucswmHQos","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCainfucswmHQos","pdf",115879,"English","# About the NDEB\n## Purpose\n## Mission\n# Examinations and Assessments\n## The Certification Process\n## The Equivalency Process\n# Duties of the Board\n## Major duties of the Board\n## Composition of the Board\n## Meetings\n## Criteria for the Selection of NDEB Board Members\n## Term\n# Duties of Board Members","[{\"question\":\"What is the NDEB’s legal mandate and overall responsibility?\",\"answer\":\"The NDEB was established by an Act of Parliament in 1952 and is responsible for setting qualifying conditions for a national standard of dental competence, maintaining an examination facility, and issuing certificates to dentists who meet the standard.\"},{\"question\":\"How does the certification process work for eligible dental graduates?\",\"answer\":\"Accredited dental program graduates are eligible to write the Virtual OSCE, the certification examination, which leads to NDEB certification and licensure in Canada.\"},{\"question\":\"What are the three components of the equivalency process?\",\"answer\":\"The equivalency process consists of three examinations: the Assessment of Fundamental Knowledge (AFK), the Assessment of Clinical Judgement (ACJ), and the NDECC skills test.\"}]","NDEB Board and Member Responsibilities - June 2024 | PDF",1789931226,15]
