AND PILGRIMS:THE CHILDREN WE GUIDE”\n\nRev.Peter MacCarthy, coordinator of this year's AnnualMeetings indicates that this year will surpass other years innumbers.Inquiries have been received from all over thecountry. The work that has been accomplished by all commit-tees will bear fruit next month. All members have receivedadvanced registration notices and we ask that you send thisregistration as soon as possible to Sister M.Raymond,4255Third Ave.,Minneapolis,Minnesota. \n## POPE BLESSES WORK OF NCGC\n\nLast summer during the NCGC Guidance Tour,Rev.George H.Moreau,O.M.I.,Ph.D.,past president of NCGC,talked with Pope Paul VI and ex-plained the aims of NCGC.His Holiness was pleased to learn that this kindof work was being carried on. \n## PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THECONSTITUTION AND BY-LAWS\n\nAt the mid-year meeting of the Executive Committee,sev-eral proposals for amendments were presented and approved bythe Executive Committee. \nDue to the fact that the proposed changes will affect sevenout of nine articles of our Constitution and five out of fourteensections of the By-Laws,we will not attempt to present thechanges in great detail in this issue of the News Digest. \nHowever,we do wish this article to serve as the official no-tice,as required in Articles VIII and IX of the Constitution, ofthe fact that the proposals have been submitted and that all thechanges required by these proposals will be discussed in greatdetail by the Board of Directors in St.Paul,Minnesota onApril 9,1965 and again on April 12 if necessary. \nThe substance of these significant changes include the fol-lowing: \n1.Provision should be made for changes in the Constitutionand By-Laws,if the substance of such changes are votedby three-fourths of the assembled Board to be emergencyin nature, without submitting such changes to the Presi-dent ninety days before the annual meeting(with thePresident circularizing these thirty days before). \n2.Drop the distinction between \"regular\"and “associate” \nmembership.Provide only “individual”membership. \n3.Reconstitute the membership of the Board of Directorsincluding,in particular, the elimination of the CouncilPresidents. The principal reasons offered for such a drasticchange were the following: \na.Quite often the presidents of the affiliated councils arenot sufficiently familiar with the operations of NCGC. \nb.Frequently they do not belong to APGA and/orNCGC. \nc.The Board is already too large and will increase in num-ber with the establishment of each new council. However,it should be remarked that if the council presi-dents are eliminated from the Board, then a new \"Presi-dents Committee”—including the presidents of all coun-cils—will be established under the chairmanship of ourNational Council Coordinator. \nThe new structure for the Board as recommended by theExecutive Committee would include the following: \na.The Executive Committee proper(excluding,there-fore,the Executive Director). \nb.Chairman of the Publications Committee plus theEditor of Conference journal. \nc.Twelve members at large(four elected each year). \n4.Include the immediate Past-President as a member of theExecutive Committee. \nWe urge all members to send any and all of their reactionsand recommendations to us prior to our Spring meeting.Thisis your privilege and responsibility.I urge you to accept it andwill be deeply grateful if you do so. \nBro.Marion F.Belka,S.M.,Ph.D.President,NCGC \nFROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK...By Bro.Marion F.Belka,S.M.,Ph.D. \nOur 1965 convention will soon be here and many of us willbe on our way to the Twin Cities. Each day more detailed ar-rangements are made and additional confirmations are received.Only recently I received word from the Chancery Office of the \nArchdiocese of St.Paul; His Ex-cellency,Archbishop Leo Binz, andtwo of his au","cbCaijCw2SXrRxHV","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaijCw2SXrRxHV","pdf",360013,"English","# NCGC Meets
