If the student’s curriculum requirements for the endorsement were modified, the student’s ARD committee will determine whether the modified curriculum is sufficiently rigorous to earn the endorsement. The ARD committee must also determine whether the student must perform satisfactorily on any end-of-course assessment to earn an endorsement. \nA student who receives special education services and has completed four years of high school but has not met the requirements of his or her IEP may participate in graduation ceremonies and receive a certificate of attendance. The student may then remain enrolled to complete the IEP and earn his or her high school diploma but will only be allowed to participate in one graduation ceremony. [See policy FMH(LEGAL) for more information.] \nGraduation Expenses \nBecause students and parents will incur expenses to participate in the traditions of graduation—such as the purchase of invitations, senior ring, cap and gown, and senior picture—both the student and parent should monitor progress toward completion of all requirements for graduation. The expenses typically occur in the junior year (senior rings) and the senior year (pictures, invitations, cap and gowns, etc) . Please be sure to follow Mumford’s facebook page or check the website for Mumford Home Bulletin’s which will include information about when these events and other important events will take place. \nTESTING REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION – END OF COURSE ASSESSMENTS (EOC) \nStudents are required, with limited exceptions , and regardless of graduation program, to perform satisfactorily on the following five EOC assessments: \n• English I \n• English II \n• Algebra I \n• Biology \n• United States History \nA student who has not achieved sufficient scores on the EOC assessments to graduate will have opportunities toretake the assessments. \nState law allows a student to meet EOC requirements by substituting satisfactory performance on approved national standardized assessments or on the state-developed assessment used for entrance into Texas public universities to substitute for the requirement to meet satisfactory performance on an applicable EOC assessment should a student choose this option.
