He led home Mercedes driver George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, also in a Ferrari. Points leader KimiAntonelli dropped out of the pointspaying positions with technical trouble in a race that finished behind the Safety Car.  \nThe win marks Ferrari’s second success of the season and Leclerc’s first since the United States Grand Prix in  \n2024. Leclerc is now fourth in the standings with Hamilton third, while the Scuderia sits second in the constructors’table behind Mercedes.  \n“It means alot because when things get tough, and that’s literally the situation I’ve been in the last few races. It is yet another  \nendorsement of motorsport in this country, the  \npassion of the fans and the hunger thereis for  \ntop-flight sporting showpieces.  \nOn a weekend when there was a glut of leading sports events, the appeal of Silverstone in the summer remains undiminished, and that is heartening to see. Thereis avery positive feeling around the Home of the British Grand Prix, under the stewardship of Stuart Pringle, atthe moment.  \nThe recent announcement of the return of the World Endurance Championship to the circuit is another feather initscapandis highly likely to bring fans flocking through the turnstilesofthe former airfield too.  \nThe only blip to the British Grand Prix weekend happened atthe end of the big race itself, which was concluded under a Safety Car. That was highly unsatisfactory, but the FIA and the race director followed the rulebook perfectly.  \nNaturally it was a highly unpopular move asthe fans were denied a last-lap shootout, which could well have seen home hero Lewis Hamilton make a move on Mercedes’George Russell for second spot.
