God told Moses to return to Egypt to lead the Israelite people out of slavery in Egypt.  \nSo Moses went to his family in Midian and asked his father-in-law Jethro for permission to return to his relatives in Egypt. Jethro told Moses,“Go and may God give you peace.”  \nSo Moses took his wife and their sons and began the journey back to Egypt. He also took the walking stick with which God had done miraculous signs.  \nBefore Moses left Midian, the Lord assured him, saying,“You can safely return to Egypt because the people who wanted to kill you are dead.”  \nMeanwhile the Lord told Aaron, Moses' brother, to go meet Moses in the desert.
