The risk of developing CRC is determined by environmental and genetic factors. Surgical treatment is the main curative modality for patients with CRC up to stage III. In recent years, a special place has been given to biological agents used as targeted therapy following the genetic analysis of the tumor: Bevacizumab (Avastin), Cetuximab (Erbitux), Zivaflibercept (Zaltrap) . We present a study based on 46 colorectal tumor resection specimens from patients operated for CRC in the Surgery Departments ofthe Emergency County Clinical Hospital of Craiova, Romania. Histopathological examination and immunohistochemistry staining of tissue sections were performed to determine the degree of aggressiveness. Using the Kaplan–Meier test, we calculated the correlation coefficient between survival time and immunohistochemical prognostic factors. The patients were followed for 60 months postoperatively. GLOBOCAN 2018 statistics rank rectal neoplasia as the 8th most frequent cancer and as the 10th in terms of lethality. A number of 310 000 deaths were caused by cancer of the rectum, representing 3.2% of total cancer death. The incidence of colon and rectal cancer is generally parallel, but in highrisk areas (such as the USA), colon cancer is twice as common as rectal neoplasm. Peaks in rectal cancer incidence were recorded in Eastern Europe, Oceania, Eastern Asia, and North America. In low-risk populations for colon cancer, such as Asia and Africa, rectal cancer has a higher incidence, suggesting that common but not identical lifestyle or environmental factors are involved in theetiopathogenesis of both types of neoplasms [3] . Despite the decrease in the overall incidence ofCRC, the number of young patients affected by rectal cancer has increased (6–8% of cases are diagnosed in patients less than 40 years of age) [4] . This increase is attributable to radiation, pollution, and agricultural industrialization [5–7] . \nThe five-year survival rate of people with CRC may vary depending on several factors, particularly the stage of the disease [8]. Angiogenesis, proliferation, and metastatic spread are tightly regulated processes that are mediated by a group of factors and their receptors. \nThe colorectal tumor scan is prevalent in populations of different races and geographic regions because there are wide differences in genetic susceptibility, pathological profile, clinical manifestations, and prognosis.
