To obtain the graphics I have put all thesedesigns into my computer program, and in doing so have verified allangles. If the angles given here aredifferent from other published versions,it does not mean that those previous versions are wrong in anysense.I wish to thank Alec for his cooperativeness and open-mindedness. Alec would like to thank Piet vanZanten,of the Netherlands, for his generous computer contributions, and also Robert Long for his adviceand computer help. \nStone Color:For some designs Alec gave additional sets of angles for medium to dark colored stones.Lowenng the crown to ighten dark material is such common practice here that I have na included all thesevariations.Besides, how much to alter the stone's height depends upon each individual stone's color, andif very dark in color the cutter may decide to ignore light return altogether and cut a shallow pavilion aswell(cutting for color). \nMaterial and RI:Because small stones used in jewelry are usually natural materials,I have used 41°for the culet for Rl=1.7 and higher. \nAngles:Many of Alec's designs are not strictly 'cookbook'designs, but allow and expect that they willbe altered to meet varying circumstances, some of which he tries to anticipate. However, here in the U.S.cutters have come to expect exact angles and dimensions to be given on a design, with the tacit assumptionthat atterations can and will be made by the cutter. We have here in the U.S.become so used to convertingangles that I have not considered the inclusion of other sets of angles for different matenials essential.Beginners need exact angles;advanced cutters know how to adjust angles and are expected to do so,but giingat least one set of exact angles gives the cutter a solid jumping-off place for any alterations he may wishto make. \nNames &Pages:In corresponding with Alec I needed an easy way to refer to the various long-namedcuts and added the additional labels AW-1,AW-2,et..These have proved so helpful for me that with Alex'spermission I have left them in so you,the cutter, can also use them in corresponding about any problemsyou might have in cutting. There are two pages of alternate crowns;these have been numbered Page 17Aand Page 19A so as to keep the page numbers throughout the same as the AW numbers,to make locatingdesigns by number easier.A name ending with CC indicates it is a Cut-Corner shape,CC=Cut Corner. \nSymbols:The Letter connected to a lassoo stands for the length of the line the lassoo is around.ts lengthis compared to W.D is the diagonal distance measured as shown.HW is the sum of CM and PW plus 0.02for the girdle thickness. \nDesign vs.Dlmensions:Alec gives the sound advice to match","cbCaisoWeeKBo9lT","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaisoWeeKBo9lT","pdf",1252058,"English","# Faceting Diagrame\n# FACETNG DIAGRAMS\n## MINI BARION DESIGNS & OTHERS\n## INTRODUCTION\n### Stone Color\n### Material and RI\n### Angles\n### Names & Pages\n### Symbols\n### Design vs. Dimensions\n### Preforming\n### LW Ratios\n### AW Nr. / PAGE","[{\"question\":\"What is the purpose of this U.S. edition introduction?\",\"answer\":\"It explains that this is the first computed U.S. edition of Alexandre Wolkonsky’s designs and describes how the diagrams were prepared and revised for common U.S. cutting practices.\"},{\"question\":\"Why were pavilion indexing modifications made?\",\"answer\":\"To obtain a more even distribution of reflected light from the culet facets.\"},{\"question\":\"How are design names and pages referenced in these diagrams?\",\"answer\":\"Additional labels like AW-1, AW-2 are used, alternate crown pages are numbered Page 17A and Page 19A to align with AW numbers, and names ending with CC indicate Cut-Corner shapes.\"}]","Mini Barion Designs & Others - Introduction | PDF",1792986023,176]
