They are often the folks who seem to have relations everywhere on campus, keep the history of programs and partnerships, and know what todo when a crisis arrives. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, thei r role expanded exponential ly, as communication with students, fami l ies, and faculty became ever more urgent and frequent. Often, the past few years have meant  \nes left the ê el d or when  \ntaki ng on additional responsi bi l ities when col lea gu  \npositions were el i mi nated or transferred to other departments. Whi le daunti ng and in many cases thankless, these new chal lenges have also hel ped some mid-career professionals move i nto positions of greater seniority or feel ready to do so.  \nrfect.
