Students gain knowledge about how the senior school operates, what is required from students to be successful and how to prepare for future VCE or VCE Vocational Major studies. The following dot points are important pieces of information for beginning year 10 students and their parents: \n● Absences must be accounted for - if a student is ill or has another valid reason for being absent, a call to the Senior School Absence Line must be made on the day of absence. Continued absence should be documented with a medical certificate. More than 4 unexplained absences per class can jeopardise the ability to earn a satisfactory result. \n● Organisation is vital. Parents should be looking through their child’s PLJ and on Compass to find out about due dates, set homework tasks and special events coming up. \n● Students will be making important decisions as they go into year 10 about their futures. There are many different options, including electives, VCE and VET studies. It is important that students and parents talk with McClelland staff to ensure that the best decisions are being made. \n● There are two distinct pathways that a Year 10 student can pursue. Details of these pathways are described in detail in the following pages. Students wishing to pursue the Vocational Major pathway need to be confident in this decision given the difficulties around returning to a VCE pathway once they begin a VM pathway. \n● If a student is interested in completing a VCE unit in year 10, there is a process that needs to be followed. We aim to ensure that the student is capable not only academically but also has the organisation and resilience necessary. If you and your student believe that taking on a VCE subject is a good idea, please refer to the VCE ","cbCaipZcoFudZBIa","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaipZcoFudZBIa","pdf",751975,"English","# Introduction\n# List of Elective Fees\n# List of VCE Fees (if applicable)\n# Senior School Certificate Reforms\n# Year 11 and 12 Options\n# Year 10\n# Pathway Scenarios\n# Year 10 Course Outline\n## Standard Year 10 Compulsory Subjects\n## Pathways & Projects ($25)\n# Year 9 & 10 Electives\n## Elective Program Overview\n## Elective Program Course Descriptions\n# Studying a VCE Subject as a Year 10 Student","[{\"question\":\"What should students do when they are absent in Year 10?\",\"answer\":\"Absences must be accounted for.
