Directors appreciated the CPF’s strong alignment with Mauritania’s national development strategy, highlighting its focus on reducing the country’s reliance on extractives by bolstering value-added economic activity and putting emphasis on priority value-chains. Directors recognized the selective nature of the proposed program and its strong links with key WBG corporate initiatives such as Mission 300 and AgriConnect. They also encouraged Management to take advantage of the entire suite ofWBG instruments and incorporate lessons learned across the region during the implementation of the program.  \nDirectors emphasized the CPF’s focus on creating the fundamentals for quality jobs through strengthened institutions and governance, improving the business environment for private sector development (notably in mining, agribusiness, and fisheries with emphasis on SMEs and access to finance), and enhancing skills for youth.
