The Scribes were influential teachers of the Old Testament and Jewish traditions. Both groups followed Jesus to different places trying to find fault in what He was teaching. Galilee was about one hundred kilometers from Jerusalem.  \n1. What had the Pharisees and teachers noticed about Jesus' disciples?  \n2. What did the religious leaders ask Jesus?  \n3. What did Jesus call them? Why?  \n4. What were some of the things that Jesus said come out of the heart and make men and women unclean?  \n5. Do you see any unclean things in your own heart? What are you doing about it?  \nThis passage urges us to be careful that what is being taught is really Scripture, and not just what the speaker thinks. Be sure that all teaching is what God's Word teaches.  \nRead or listen to Mark 7:24-37  \n1. What did the Phoenician woman want Jesus to do?  \n2. What did Jesus say to her? Jesus was reminding her that the gospel was to be  \ngiven  \nto the Jews first.  \n3. What did the woman say to Jesus then? What was Jesus' answer?  \n4. What did the woman discover when she went home?  \n5. Jesus moved on to another city. Who did the people bring to Him?  \n6. What did Jesus do? What did the man do then?  \n7. Jesus commanded the people not to tell anyone. What happened?  \nRead or listen to Mark 8:1-21  \n1. Why did Jesus have compassion on the people?  \n2. What food did the disciples have?  \n3. What did Jesus tell the disciples to do?  \n4. How many were fed? How much was leftover?  \n5. What did the Pharisees ask Jesus to do?  \n6. What did Jesus tell them?  \nDo you think Jesus may get weary of our doubts sometimes?  \n7. What did Jesus say to the disciples in verse 15?  \n8. What did they think Jesus meant?  \nIt seems the disciples did not understand what Jesus was saying. Yeast is a symbol of evil. Just as yeast affects all the dough, a little evil affects our whole being. Jesus seems to be warning the disciples that we need to be careful of the little things that creep into our lives and take our focus off of Him.  \nThen He goes on to remind them of His provision for them. They should understand by now that if He can feed huge crowds, He can  \ncertainly take care of the few of them. But don't be quick to judge the disciples. How many times have you failed to trust Jesus when going through a difficult time? Even though He has faithfully met your needs in the past, do you call on Him right away when another need comes along?  \nRead or listen to Mark 8:22-38  \n1. Some peole brought a blind man to Jesus. What did Jesus do? Why do you think Jesus took the man out of the village?  \n2. Jesus asked, \"Do you see anything?\" What did the man say?  \n3. Then what did Jesus do? What happened?  \nWe don't know for sure why Jesus led theman out of the village. Some teachers think the people in the village did not believe. Neither do we know why Jesus touched the man twice to heal him. Perhaps Jesus was showing that spiritual understanding sometimes comes slowly.  \n4.
