Academic Coordinator Barbara Di Puma , School Office Manager \nA letter from the Principal \nAt Mar Vista we do not accept a parent’s request for his/her child to be placed in a certain teacher’s classroom for next year. \nPlease rest assured that this is a decision we do not take lightly at Mar Vista Elementary School. Our teachers devote considerable time and effort to make the most appropriate placement for each child. There are a number of factors that are taken into consideration when making a classroom placement decision, which render it impossible to grant a parent’s request. I can state with confidence that the faculty at Mar Vista is one of the finest in PVUSD, and the children’s needs are always at the forefront when making these very important decisions. \nAnnual Pages and PJ’s \nMark your calendar for Thursday, April 19th 6:00-7:30 pm. Families are invited to come to Mar Vista for an evening of great stories read by local authors and community members. Everyone is invited to come, wear their pajamas, and stay for hot chocolate and cookies atthe end of the evening. What a great way to share the love of literacy and great stories with family and friends. This event is free of charge, but the evening is priceless. \nSBAC Testing is coming!! Grades 3rd-6th \nThe SBAC testing program will begin Tuesday, May 1st and concludes on May 26th. The 5th grade state Science tests from April 24th – 26th. It is very important that student attend daily and on time so that we can complete the testing within the time allotted. Please do not schedule children’s appointments during these weeks. More information will come in the April newsletter. Mrs. Carroll will give the students a brief overview of the junior high program. Students are sure to be at school on this very important day. The registration packets are due no later than May 4th. Your child will not have class schedule unless the packet is turned in. The School Site Council needs you! \nWhat is the School Site Council (SSC)? It is a group representative of the various parts of the school community making decisions that affect the school. It is made up of school employees (the principal and another staff member), teachers, and parents. The SSC plans, monitors, and evaluates the activities and expenditures for certain programs operated atthe school to improve student achievement. The SSC meets once a month during the school year to accomplish these goals. \nMar Vista \nSchool ","cbCaisNKga0jUmyI","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaisNKga0jUmyI","pdf",1485449,"English","# Upcoming Events\n## April & May Dates\n## Mar Vista Parents (MVP)\n## SACRAMENTO Trip and Registration\n# School Site Council (SSC)\n# SBAC Testing Information\n## SBAC Parent Letter\n## Testing Dates and Guidance\n# Annual Pages & PJ’s\n# Read-a-thon\n# 21 Days of Kindness Challenge\n# Aptos Junior High School Sixth Grade Parent Night","[{\"question\":\"What is the 21 Days of Kindness Challenge and when does it start?\",\"answer\":\"The newsletter states that the 21 Days of Kindness Challenge begins Monday, April 9th.
