Methods: retrospective registry analysis of 8,239 AML cases diagnosed from 2000–2019 in the USA, using SEER*Stat to compute standardized mortality ratios and 95% confidence intervals for each cause of death. Results and conclusions link mortality patterns to AML itself and non-cancerous causes like infections, alongside risks from other malignancies, granulocyte deficiencies, and treatment-related cardiac problems.",{"@graph":14,"@context":77},[15,34,56],{"@type":16,"itemListElement":17},"BreadcrumbList",[18,23,27,31],{"item":19,"name":20,"@type":21,"position":22},"https://docshare.wps.com","Home","ListItem",1,{"item":24,"name":25,"@type":21,"position":26},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/","Document",2,{"item":28,"name":29,"@type":21,"position":30},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/healthcare/","Healthcare",3,{"item":32,"name":10,"@type":21,"position":33},"https://docshare.wps.com/document/mapping-the-grounds-for-mortalities-in-acute-myeloid-leukemia-through-registry-analyses-a-retrospective-cohort-study-of-children-adolescents-and-young-adults-patients/328358/",4,{"url":32,"name":10,"@type":35,"image":36,"author":41,"headline":10,"publisher":44,"fileFormat":47,"inLanguage":8,"description":12,"dateModified":48,"datePublished":49,"encodingFormat":47,"isAccessibleForFree":50,"interactionStatistic":51},"DigitalDocument",{"url":37,"@type":38,"width":39,"height":40},"https://docshare.wps.com/thumbnails/mapping-the-grounds-for-mortalities-in-acute-myeloid-leukemia-through-registry-analyses-a-retrospective-cohort-study-of-children-adolescents-and-young-adults-patients/328358.png","ImageObject",300,407,{"name":42,"@type":43},"Noah","Person",{"url":19,"name":45,"@type":46},"DocShare","Organization","application/pdf","2026-10-28","2026-09-21",true,{"@type":52,"interactionType":53,"userInteractionCount":55},"InteractionCounter",{"@type":54},"ViewAction",7,{"@type":57,"mainEntity":58},"FAQPage",[59,65,69,73],{"name":60,"@type":61,"acceptedAnswer":62},"What was the study’s main objective regarding mortality in AML patients?","Question",{"text":63,"@type":64},"To identify non-malignant factors contributing to mortality in children, adolescents, and young adults with AML, aiming to improve follow-up and reduce mortality rates.","Answer",{"name":66,"@type":61,"acceptedAnswer":67},"How were mortality outcomes analyzed in the study?",{"text":68,"@type":64},"The study used SEER*Stat with 8,239 AML cases diagnosed between 2000 and 2019 in the USA to calculate standardized mortality ratios and 95% confidence intervals for each cause of death.",{"name":70,"@type":61,"acceptedAnswer":71},"What were the leading causes of death observed among the patients?",{"text":72,"@type":64},"Most observed deaths were attributed to AML itself (2,245; Using version [8.4.0.1](8.4.0.1)[ ](8.4.0.1)of the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER)*Stat software, we calculated the standardized mortality ratios (SMRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for each cause of death. \nResults: Out of the 3,165 deaths observed in the study population, the majority (2,245;70.9%) were attributed to AML itself, followed by non-AML cancers (573; 18.1%) and non-cancerous causes (347; 10.9%) . \nConclusions: Patients with AML are at a higher risk of developing other types of cancer and granulocyte deficiencies, which increases the risk of death from non-cancerous causes such as infections. Moreover, treatment forAML carries the risk of cardiac problems. AML is commoner in males than females. \nKeywords: Acute myeloid leukemia; Non-cancerous mortality cause; SEER database; Children; Standardized mortality ratios \nIntroduction \nAcute myeloid leukemia (AML), also called acute nonlymphocytic leukemia, is a hematogenous malignancy caused by genetic and epigenetic mutations of myeloid stem cells leading to rapid proliferation and accumulation of undifferentiated myeloblasts in the bone marrow and, thus, impaire","cbCaika9CTsynG47","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaika9CTsynG47","pdf",732559,"English","# Abstract\n## Background\n## Methods\n## Results\n## Conclusions\n# Introduction","[{\"question\":\"What was the study’s main objective regarding mortality in AML patients?\",\"answer\":\"To identify non-malignant factors contributing to mortality in children, adolescents, and young adults with AML, aiming to improve follow-up and reduce mortality rates.\"},{\"question\":\"How were mortality outcomes analyzed in the study?\",\"answer\":\"The study used SEER*Stat with 8,239 AML cases diagnosed between 2000 and 2019 in the USA to calculate standardized mortality ratios and 95% confidence intervals for each cause of death.\"},{\"question\":\"What were the leading causes of death observed among the patients?\",\"answer\":\"Most observed deaths were attributed to AML itself (2,245; 70.9%), followed by non-AML cancers (573; 18.1%) and non-cancerous causes (347; 10.9%).\"},{\"question\":\"What risks for non-cancerous death did the conclusions emphasize?\",\"answer\":\"Patients with AML were at higher risk for other cancers and granulocyte deficiencies, increasing death risk from non-cancerous causes such as infections; treatment also carried risk of cardiac problems.\"}]","Mapping the Grounds for Mortalities in Acute Myeloid Leukemia Through Registry Analyses - A Retrospective Cohort Study of Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults Patients | PDF",1789979454,23]
