Welcome \n5 to everyone. Welcome to all of the participants and \n6 presenters. \n7 \n8 Members of the public will be observing the \n9 proceedings. I am new to reading glasses, so I'm going to \n10 be uncomfortably taking them on and off throughout this \n11 whole thing, so please be patient with me. \n12 \n13 My name is Aimée Craft. I'm the Chair of \n14 the Manitoba Clean Environment Commission. I'm joined this \n15 morning by two other Commissioners, and I'll ask them to \n16 introduce themselves, beginning on my right. \n17 \n18 MR . LABOSSIERE: I -- I am Don \n19 Labossiere. I consider Virden, Manitoba to be my hometown. \n20 I went to the University of Manitoba, where I graduated with \n21 a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry in 1987 . Worked \n22 in private industry for three years, and then after that, 23 with the Province, I started off with -- or as an \n24 Environmental Inspector for compliance with environmental \n25 legislation. Along the lines, I spent three years, and \n1 often, doing natural resource protection. And by the time \n2 I retired, I was the Director of Environmental Compliance \n3 and Enforcement. \n4 \n5 THE CHAIRWOMAN: Thank you, Don . Lydia? 6 \n7 MS . CARPENTER: Thank you. Good \n8 morning. I'm Lydia Carpenter. \n9 \n10 I'm joining you from the Southwestern \n11 Manitoba. I grew up in the Red River Valley but now reside \n12 close to Belmont. So, I had a nice drive here yesterday. 13 \n14 My current role is actually as an \n15 entrepreneur, running a cattle-grazing operation in the \n16 southwest. I also do facilitation and mediation for groups \n17 in agriculture, particularly farm families that are going \n18 through succession. \n19 \n20 My education is in sciences and natural \n21 resource management. I graduated from the University of \n22 Manitoba in 2011 from the Natural Resource Institute, and \n23 held various different positions on boards and volunteer \n24 organizations relating to that work. And I'm--I'm--it's \n25 a privilege to join you today, so thank you very much. \n1 \n2 THE CHAIRWOMAN: Great. And we're \n3 showing you how to use these lovely microphones that we have \n4 to turn on and off, and so we'll probably be providing some \n5 direction on that front and making sure that people are \n6 introducing themselves, using the microphone. So, if we \n7 have some administrative issues around that, we'll be \n8 providing some guidance and we'll be patient with one \n9 another. \n10 \n11 Also joining us this morning are two staff \n12 members from the CEC .
