EAEA and its 120 members, in 43 European countries, propose a Europe-wide effort to develop a society that can deal with the challenges of our time through adult learning and education. \nWith this manifesto, we want to demonstrate how adult learning and education (ALE) can help solve many challenges in Europe. We are providing arguments, research evidence, good practices and learners’ stories. They will all show that adult learning and education help change lives and transform societies. \nWe also want to underline the joy of learning. Adult learning and education have many benefits-learners have more confidence, more social contacts, better health and many more advantages. Understanding and experiencing the joy of learning should and can be part of everyone’s life. \nSo let us create a Learning Europe where we all benefit from the power and joy of learning! \nMANIFESTO FOR ADULT LEARNING \nin the 21st Century \nWhat do we mean by adult learning and education? \n04 \nAdult learning and education include three key domains of learning and skills. First, literacy and basic skills; second, continuing education and vocational skills; and third, liberal, popular and community education and citizenship skills. \nThe ultimate goal of ALE is to ensure that adults, throughout their lives, can participate fully in societies, including the world of work. ALE enables people to develop the necessary capabilities to exercise and realise their rights and take control of their destinies. It promotes personal and professional development, thereby supporting more active engagement by adults with their societies, communities, and environments. It fosters environmental and inclusive economic well-being and decent work. \nALE is, therefore,“a crucial tool in alleviating poverty, improving health and well-being and contributing to sustainable learning societies.”1 \nALE has a long tradition in many countries in Europe. In different languages, we talk about folkbildning or Volksbildung or educación popular. We bring together all forms of learning but focus on non-formal and general adult learning and education. \nMANIFESTO FOR ADULT LEARNING in the 21st Century \nThe European Association for the Education of Adults (EAEA), together with its 120 \nmembers in 43 countries, has identified the following key principles of adult learning and education: \n• Adult learning and education is a human right and a common good. \n• Everyone has the right to access and participate in high-quality ALE and should have the opportunity ","cbCain16H5tT32cT","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCain16H5tT32cT","pdf",1690548,32,"English","# The power and joy of learning\n## Peace and democracy\n## Environmental sustainability and green transition\n## Well-being and resilience\n## Life skills\n## Inclusion, empowerment and social justice\n## Employment and work\n## Digitalisation\n## Demographic change and migration\n## Adult learning and education and European and international policies\n# What do we mean by adult learning and education?\n## Key domains of learning and skills\n## Ultimate goal of ALE\n## Tradition and focus on non-formal adult learning\n# Key principles of adult learning and education","[{\"question\":\"What is the main purpose of EAEA’s manifesto on adult learning?\",\"answer\":\"The manifesto aims to create a Learning Europe by showing how adult learning and education can help address Europe’s challenges through evidence, good practices, and learners’ stories.\"},{\"question\":\"What domains of learning are included in adult learning and education (ALE)?\",\"answer\":\"ALE covers literacy and basic skills, continuing education and vocational skills, and liberal/popular/community education and citizenship skills.\"},{\"question\":\"Which core principles does the manifesto emphasize for ALE?\",\"answer\":\"It emphasizes ALE as a human right and common good, universal access to high-quality learning, learner-centered development, democratic inclusion values, and flexible support systems, including for disadvantaged and low-skills learners.\"}]","Manifesto for Adult Learning in the 21st Century - The Power and Joy of Learning - digital manifesto | PDF",1790412443,81]
