Unlike existing works, this paper applies support vector machine (SVM) for intrusion detection in VANET. The structure of SVM has many computation advantages, such as special direction at a 􀀌nite sample and irrelevance between the complexity of algorithm and the sample dimension. Intrusion detection in VANETis nonconvex and combinatorial problem. Thus, three intelligence optimization algorithms are used for optimizing the accuracy value of SVM classi􀀌er. These optimization algorithms include Genetic algorithm (GA), Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO), and Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) . For smart city, road infrastructure relies on information and communications technologies where smart vehicles are connected with other vehicles and roadside units (RSU) . ITS relies on RSU for reducing accidents and improving driving performance Alsarhan et al. (2018); Arif et al. (2019) .  \nVANETs are vulnerable to several types of attacks due to the nature of exposure of wireless medium Arif et al. (2019) . Unfortunately, these attacks degrade the performance of VANET signi􀀌cantly and create serious problems for legitimate drivers. Hence, protecting VANET's tra􀀎c from modi􀀌cation, interception, and deletion the messages has been a great challenge and among the top priorities for academia and industry. Malicious nodes may alert the messages which are used to guide the drivers. Furthermore, attackers may spread false messages which may cause accidents Arif et al. (2019); Sun et al. (2019) . In order to apply the VANETs in ITS e􀀋ectively, new algorithms for securing VANETs' tra􀀎c should be proposed and applied e􀀎ciently. All VANETs' tra􀀎c should be classi-􀀌ed for trustworthiness. Every attack class in VANET has certain characteristics, which establishes a pro􀀌le for it. Machine learning (ML) algorithms have been widely adopted for analyzing large amounts of data and extract useful rule for the detection, classi􀀌cation, and prediction of future events in VANET.
