At the time of writing, huge cuts to NASA are slated, while the line between government space activities and private involvement is increasingly blurred. It is impossible to predict what is coming next month, let alone a year from now. With this in mind, I have focused this book on the deep and fundamental ethical issues raised by human activities in space—issues that are largely independent of the news of the day.  \nWhile these issues are timeless, discussion of them has never been more timely or urgent. Humanity has not been properly consulted about what is planned for space in coming years. This is a gross omission. My hope is that this book will help equip a wide variety of readers to better take part in discussions about the future of space. These discussions need the voices and varied views of us all, not just the few and the powerful.  \nThis book, it is important to note from the outset, is an opinionated introduction to these issues. Each chapter presents my own personal views. But I do provide extensive argument for these views. In doing so, I draw upon, and seek to extend, the rich and steadily evolving philosophical literature on space ethics. My training and expertise are in moral philosophy, but I do not presume any prior study of philosophy by readers. The book is written in a clear style, accessible to all.
