every Catholic parish.Thefirst place is the home. This is sacred because theChristian family is itself sacred;God is its Father. \nA second place which is sacred is the school, forhere children learn about the things in God's heavenand the things on God’s earth. \nThe final and fullest meaning of holiness, however,is to be found in the parish church. Here we minglewith our neighbors and friends, and, together withthem, worship our heavenly Father. Our church isthe holy place because,as the children of God,we canlive and breathe there in a profound and ample waythat no other place permits. \nThe following pages give a sort of sketch of thisthree-structured panorama. The life of a Catholicparish is,we may say,a kind of cinerama. On thecentral screen is the altar of God,with the home andthe school on either side. These are the places whereChrist lives and works. But his chief work is,ofcourse,to worship the heavenly Father. And thiswe do,as members of his Body. The homes we livein and the schools we learn in,these have one greatmission that our leaders may never discard from theirplanning:they have the privileged task of readyingGod’s children for a divine gesture:active realizationthat the altar is the center of their lives, the thresholdof life in their eternal home. \n## HALLOWED BE THY HOME\n\nSister Mary Dolorita,0.S.B. \nIn the light of the fact that thousands of youngfamilies today are trying to revitalize Christianityin their homes,it would be impertinent to say thatreligious customs in the home no longer exist.Forbetween the claims of television and movies, above thetip of the antennae, the family rosary and other devo-tions are still linking the home to heaven.Throughthe help of such agencies as the Cana Conferences, theGrailville Movement, and family retreats, and throughbeautiful family traditions, prayer practices are stillconsecrating much of the face of American home life. \nSisters who teach our young people desire to en-courage such practices. Many of us,knowing thatour vocations stemmed from homes unafraid of beingvisibly stamped as God's,would like to share the waysby which family life can be enriched, stamping itsrecipients with joy. \nOur own family was not blessed with many worldlypossessions, but it was rich in even truer ways.Ourhome was attractive with age,as it had been the homeof our great-grandparents who willed that\"the homeplace”be passed from one generation to the nextMy father received our home by way of
