It contrasts small mental “houses” with the expanded understanding of lifelong learners, and explains how reading helps people interpret medicine directions, recognize signs, and learn from stories and news. The book then introduces the purpose of eyes and letters, and shows how alphabets and letter shapes can be learned through practice and familiar forms.","Literacy International: \nRead! \nCopyright © 2018 Literacy International [info@LiteracyInternational.net](info@LiteracyInternational.net) \nEnglish Personal Development \nLiteracy International: \nRead! \nCopyright © 2018 Literacy International [info@LiteracyInternational.net](info@LiteracyInternational.net) \nEnglish \nCopyright © 2018, Literacy International \n[http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/](http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/) \nYou are free to make commercial use of this work. Just take the time and energy. \nPART ONE \nMost of us have shelter of one kind or another. Some people live in small houses, with perhaps one door anda little window. Others are more fortunate and they have more space for themselves. They have various doors and windows. \nSome people have small minds. Not much goes into their heads and not much comes out. They are aware of very little of their world, and what they say may be loud but have very little meaning. Others are more fortunate and have more in their mental space. They hear and learn new things and improve their lives. \nSome people go on learning new things until they die. They are blessed, and they bless the people around them. \nIf you don't read, you probably live in a small mental house. Think carefully about this. You probably will have: \n-More diseases than necessary with modern medicines; gardens that don't produce, \n-Worthless arguments in courts or family meetings, useless because similar things have happened before and you could have learned about them from books before confusing things or getting hurt, \n-Many chances to get lost in cities where people use signs, \n-Risks of being hurt or even killed by dangerous equipment and medicines, when directions aren't followed. This is serious. \n-A very small view of things beyond your nearby friends, family or town, perhaps making you even have to pay to have letters read to you, \n-Walls all around you, something like a prison. You can't see them but they're there. \n-MOST IMPORTANT ... \nConfusion about God's word because you can't read it for yourself about who He is, what He does and who you are. \nYou can learn: \n-How to read signs on walls and street corners when you're alone, \n-What causes fever, diarrhea, coughing and weakness; and some ways to stop them; \n-What your friends or government workers want you to know about their plans, when they can't visit you. \n-Stories about how some men and women have overcome great sickness in their families, fear, lack of money, misunderstandings; \n-What to do when your doctor or shopkeeper writes instructions about medicines or equipment; how not to be like a Kenya man who killed his family with rat poison, thinking that he was giving them salt; or an American man who died of a heart attack because he could not read about how to open a medicine bottle. \n-What fights and arguments have taken place among people, cities and even nations, and some ideas about making peace; what newspapers and magazines say, and how you can relate their words to your own life and become wiser at home. \n-MOST IMPORTANT ... Your own experience about how God so loved us that He gave His son Jesus Christ for us all --without having to believe everything you hear from all the people who claim to know the Bible. \nPART TWO \nAll people use their eyes to get meanings from somethings, whether they live in a large house or a small one: \n-leaves, to see what kind of plant they came from, whether they should be eaten or planted; \n-soil, to decide whether or not it's time for planting; \n-clouds, to see if rain is coming; \n-trails, for finding the way through a forest; \n-metal coins or paper bills, to see how much money they","cbCaikxi7iXbOzCo","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaikxi7iXbOzCo","pdf",1915075,1,20,"English","en",105,"# Part One\n## Reading and mental freedom\n## Learning practical knowledge from
