Two of the young men finally went over to a stream for a drink of water, which they cupped in their hands. Then they sat down for a bit of rest. Tudin sat with one hand holding his chin until his friend, Namgyal, challenged him, saying,“What are you thinking about?”  \nTudin turned toward him and said,“I remember how my father taught me how to do this field work. For me it was like a game, and he knew that. He enjoyed life so much and saw to it that I did, too. But now he is gone, and I miss him so much.”  \nNamgyal nodded.“I could never forget when the news came that he was shot by bandits. We all were sad about that, but life goes on.”  \n“It hasn’t gone on for me,” Tudin replied.“I have yet to find anyone to take his place. He was always therefor me. He understood how I felt and what I wanted to learn. I wanted to be like him, and he tried his best to encourage me and explain things to me. All these years now it has been like a big emptiness where I used to be cared for and led. He lived for me. He really cared that I be as good a farmer and as good a hunter as he was. When he taught me to ride, he never criticized or scolded. He always seemed to say some little thing to me about how I had improved.”  \nLater that day Tudin was back at the home of his aunt, who had taken this fatherless boy in when his mother died. As he went about some work in the stables and storage area downstairs, he heard someone’s voice singing outside, a visitor no doubt. But what this person was singing was a tune that sounded familiar to Tudin.  \nAs he listened closely he recognized the tune as one which his father had often hummed to him! Something he had picked up in his travels and liked. Tudin listened to the words, beautiful words which went this way,“Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so... little ones to him belong; they are weak, but he is strong.”  \nTudin went to the large wooden doors, greeted theman standing there and invited him inside. This fellow, named Mikma, asked if he could stop a while and rest right there from his journey. Tudin welcomed him, and before long he asked him about the song be had been singing, mentioning that his father had taught him this same song.  \n“Did he ever travel down to the border towns?” Mikma asked,“For that is where he may have met the Jesus people, who love to sing praise to God.”  \n“Oh, yes,” was the reply,“he used to take furs and medicinal herbs down there for sale. I was too small togo with him, but he taught me the song you sang. I had forgotten it, but hearing you sing it brought it back to me. Could you explain it to me? Who is this Jesus who loves the little ones, and why would he do that?”  \nMikma gladly explained,“God, who created this world and its people, did this because He loves us. And He sent Jesus down here to help us in many ways.
