It is good and joyful, but only if we obey what God says.  \nThe husband should love and respect his wife, and the wife should love and respect her husband. The man must not go after other women, and the woman must not go after other men. There should be no lying. God wants us faithful.  \nIf the husband or the wife breaks these rules, it will cause trouble, and the two of them will not be happy. If they both follow God's commands, their home will be a place of peace and happiness.  \nMarriage started long ago. On the sixth day of Creation God made all the animals, and he made the first man. But no animal was the perfect helper for theman.  \nSo God made the woman. She was the perfect helper for the man. She could think and speak and make plans in a way the animals could not. She could relate to God. She and the man together could have fellowship with God and serve Him. And they do, in the best marriages.  \nIn the Old Testament, God said that a man should leave his parents and stay with his wife. Then each of them will care more about the other than about himself or herself.  \nThe two of them will share their thoughts and do things together. They will enjoy each other more everyday. In time the two people become like one person.  \nREAD Genesis 2: 18-24  \nGod wants the husband to be the head of the family as Christ is the head of the church. But that doesn't mean he is bossy and pushes his wife around. \"Head\"is not \"chief. \" He talks about things with his wife and listens to her and cares about what she feels. He tries to find God's will for his family. Then he decides what to do.  \nIn the New Testament, Paul says the wife needs to submit to her husband. She agrees to follow what her husband decides. And Paul says that the husband needs to love his wife in the same way that Jesus Christ loves His church. He must even be willing to die for her. He will never want to hurt her. If a man loves his wife like that, she will be glad to follow what he says.  \nPaul also says that all Christians should submit to eachother. That means that each of them should care about what the other person feels and thinks and wants. So at times the husband will do something to make his wife happy, even if it is not what he wants. And the wife will do something to make her husband happy, although it is not what she wants.  \nREAD Ephesians 5: 18-21 and 28; Deuteronomy 11:18-19  \nThe husband and wife worship and pray together. This makes their marriage stronger. They have fun together. They can play games, look at a sunset, or listen to beautiful music. They provide a place of rest for each other, away from the noises off the world.  \nThe wife submits to the husband and the husband submits to Christ. In this way there is peace and joy in the home. The husband and wife are equal in God's sight. One is not higher or better than the other. The husband and wife love each other.  \nWhen the husband and wife disagree, it is a chance for them to grow. If they are hurt, they must be willing to forgive.  \nWhen they have problems, the husband and wife talk together about what to do. Each one listens to the other's ideas.
