The prologue builds dread through vivid coastal isolation, then abruptly turns into danger when someone arrives and shoves her off the cliff. Chapter 1 shifts to three days earlier in Eugene, Oregon, establishing the group trip to Breakwater Bluffs with four close friends and the anticipation behind a forthcoming secret.","Lies Among Friends \nA Standalone Thriller \nSabrina Wade \n[OceanofPDF. com](OceanofPDF. com) \nCopyright © 2025 by Sabrina Wade All rights reserved. \nNo portion of this book may be reproduced in any form without written permission from the publisher or author, except as permitted by U.S. copyright law. \n[OceanofPDF.com](OceanofPDF.com) \nContents \nPrologue Chapter 1 \nChapter 2 \nChapter 3 \nChapter 4 \nChapter 5 \nChapter 6 \nChapter 7 \nChapter 8 \nChapter 9 \nChapter 10 \nChapter 11 \nChapter 12 \nChapter 13 \nChapter 14 \nChapter 15 \nChapter 16 \n42 \n\n| Chapter 17 |\n| --- |\n| Chapter 18 |\n| Chapter 19 |\n| Chapter 20 |\n| Chapter 21 |\n| Chapter 22 |\n| Chapter 23 |\n| Chapter 24 |\n| Chapter 25 |\n| Chapter 26 |\n| Chapter 27 |\n| Chapter 28 |\n| Chapter 29 |\n| Chapter 30 |\n| Chapter 31 |\n| Chapter 32 |\n| Chapter 33 |\n| Chapter 34 |\n| Chapter 35 |\n| Chapter 36 |\n| Chapter 37 |\n| Chapter 38 |\n| Chapter 39 |\n| Chapter 40 |\n| Chapter 41 |\n| Chapter |\n\nChapter 43 \nChapter 44 \nChapter 45 \nChapter 46 \nChapter 47 \nChapter 48 \nChapter 49 \nChapter 50 \nChapter 51 \nChapter 52 \nChapter 53 \nChapter 54 \nChapter 55 \nEpilogue \n[OceanofPDF.com](OceanofPDF.com) \nPrologue \nQuinn \nThursday, July 23, 1998 \nDevil’s Arm, Breakwater Bluffs, Oregon \nThe trail is narrow, barely a thin cut through the tall pines, but I know exactly where it goes. \nIt’s early evening, and the sky hangs low as faint streaks of violet and gold fight to linger before night. \nThe air is turning cool. The path feels damp, fog threading between the trees and beading on my skin. Everything smells of wet cedar and salt. \nBranches snag at my jacket sleeves, damp pine needles brushing my arms like cold fingers. The wind rushes harder the farther I go, sharp with the briny sting of sea air, threading through the forest as if it’s warning me not to come closer. \nThe higher I climb, the louder the wind howls, while the world of people falls away into silence. \nBut I keep moving, heart thudding with every step, the paper clutched tight in my hand. \nI don’t look at it again. I don’t need to. The words are already burned into my memory. Black ink, jagged handwriting, and a warning I wish I hadn’tread. \nIt was a mistake to read. But now I can’t unsee it. \nAhead, the path curves. I pass the twisted tree trunk that looks like a claw, walk over the smooth stone slab someone wedged into the dirt years ago. \nMy boots scrape across it, and for a second, I think about turning back, but I need to be alone. I need to process what I just read. \nI keep following the dirt path heading to the cliff ’s edge. The trees open and the fog peels back like a curtain. Suddenly, the horizon is bare and wide. \nThere it is. \nDevil’s Arm. \nThe name sounds dramatic, like something out of a ghost story. But now, standing here with the wind biting at my sleeves and the sea roaring far below, it feels fitting. \nA jagged outcrop of rock that extends out into nothing, clawing at the sky like it’s reaching for something just out of grasp. \nIt’s the kind of place no one stumbles across by accident. The type of place people whisper about. \nA dramatic name, dramatic views, and a drop so sheer your stomach flips just looking at it. \nBut I’m not here for the view. I’m here because I need room to breathe. Space. \nDistance from the people I came here with, to gather my thoughts. To try to make sense of what just happened. \nBelow, the sea churns with a kind of rage, waves colliding against the rocks as if trying to tear them down. The sky is a blaze of gold and deep rose. The last light of the day is stretched thin across the horizon, catching the edges of the cliffs and turning the sea into molten glass. I’ve never seen anything so still and wild at the same time. \nI lift my head and look forward. The ocean stretches so far that it almost doesn’t feel real. Just endless blue on blue, a skyline that never answers back. \nI glance down at the crumpled paper in my hand—just one page. \nI’","cbCaid9zkoZwCOQd","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaid9zkoZwCOQd","pdf",4128566,355,"English","en",105,"# Prologue\n# Chapter 1\n# Chapter 2\n# Chapter 3\n# Chapter 4\n# Chapter 5\n# Chapter 6\n# Chapter 7\n# Chapter 8\n# Chapter 9\n# Chapter 10\n# Chapter 11\n# Chapter 12\n# Chapter 13\n# Chapter 14\n# Chapter 15\n# Chapter 16\n# Chapter 17\n# Chapter 18\n# Chapter 19\n# Chapter 20\n# Chapter 21\n# Chapter 22\n# Chapter 23\n# Chapter 24\n# Chapter 25\n# Chapter 26\n# Chapter 27\n# Chapter 28\n# Chapter 29\n# Chapter 30\n# Chapter 31\n# Chapter 32\n# Chapter 33\n# Chapter 34\n# Chapter 35\n# Chapter 36\n# Chapter 37\n# Chapter 38\n# Chapter 39\n# Chapter 40\n# Chapter 41\n# Chapter 42\n# Chapter 43\n# Chapter 44\n# Chapter 45\n# Chapter 46\n# Chapter 47\n# Chapter 48\n# Chapter 49\n# Chapter 50\n# Chapter 51\n# Chapter 52\n# Chapter 53\n# Chapter 54\n# Chapter 55\n# Epilogue","[{\"question\":\"What triggers Quinn’s fear in the prologue of the story?\",\"answer\":\"Quinn reads a warning on a page she can’t forget, and when she realizes she’s been lied to, she desperately needs answers.
