The connectors are NOT keyed, so reversing the connec􀆟ons (par􀆟cularly on 9 Volt Power, Output TRS Jack, and Neck & Bridge Pickup connectors) will result in polarity reversal that can poten􀆟ally damage your pickups!  \nABOUT THE LHZ-02  \nThe LHZ-02 is a compact PCB (Printed Circuit Board) employing the same vintage HazLabs® preamp circuit design as used in the 80’s Spector ® NS2 bass guitars. The preamp circuit is designed around the LF442CN JFET OpAmp. Unlike high-fidelity audio OpAmps used in modern equipment, the LF442CN is designed for instrumenta􀆟on use, and was renowned for impar􀆟ng unique harmonic overtones that helped shape the overall tone of the NS2 .  \nThe LHZ-02 is a compact PCB measuring 31mm X 50mm. It is a varia􀆟on of the LHZ-01 preamp that features 2. 54mm DuPont™ compa􀆟ble solderless pin headers to connect power, poten􀆟ometers, and output jacks, and allows for a wide varia􀆟on of customiza􀆟on.  \nEvery LHZ-02 is fully tested before being shipped, assuring the unit is ready for use.  \nPREPARING FOR INSTALLATION  \nBefore star􀆟ng, make sure you have everything ready. For most users this means having the following components on hand:  \n• Volume poten􀆟ometer: Audio taper (value can vary to match your pickups)  \n• Blend poten􀆟ometer: Linear, Audio, or M/N taper (value can vary to match your pickups)  \n• 9-volt batery connector (or wires from built-in batery box)  \n• Output jack with TRS (Tip, Ring, and Sleeve) connec􀆟ons  \n• Double-sided non-conduc􀆟ve foam tape, cardboard, or foam strips (to insulate and secure components)  \nAll the above components will connect to the LHZ-02 via 2. 54mm female DuPont™ compa􀆟ble connectors, which are used on the EMG solderless modular preamp kits.  \nThe volume and blend poten􀆟ometers can vary significantly and will not impact the LHZ-02 opera􀆟on. It is not uncommon for volume & blend poten􀆟ometer to range between 25k and 500k, as the values are specific for the type of pickups being used. (Consult pickup manufacturer for specifica􀆟ons. ) These varia􀆟ons will not impact the performance or tonal characteris􀆟cs of the preamp.  \nNOTE: The Bass and Treble poten􀆟ometers are cri􀆟cal: they must be 100k poten􀆟ometers with a linear taper to work correctly. A center detent is preferred, but not necessary, as this indicates the point of travel where the preamp offers flat (not boos􀆟ng and not cu􀆫ng) EQ response. All LHZ preamps ship with pre-wired Bass and Treble pots to ensure the preamp operates as design and fits Spector and most bass guitars.  \nRECOMMENDED INSTALLATIONS STEPS  \nThis guide contains mul􀆟ple wiring diagrams and varia􀆟ons that cover the most common installa􀆟on op􀆟ons. Once you decide on the diagram to use, the following general steps are recommended to reduce poten􀆟al errors and risk of damaging the finish on your instrument.  \nInstruc􀆟ons assume that the exis􀆟ng volume (or volume and blend) pots will remain in the bass and be connected to the LHZ.  \nSTEP 1: REMOVE THE EXISTING PREAMP  \n• Take photos from mul􀆟ple angles of how your bass is currently wired.
