It gathers terms by extracting them from key universal-scope legal instruments, then organizes entries in alphabetical order with parallel English and French lists. Each term includes its precise meaning and a reference to its source text. A thematic grouping of the same terms follows, and a curated set of relevant documents supports further study. The method is modeled on a prior human-rights lexicon.","# ■\n\nCEDRIC VIALELEXICON OFENVIRONMENTAL LAW \nLES DÉFINITIONS DU DROIT \nDE LENVIRONNEMENT \nLegitimate concerns about the environment require extensive internationalregulation. The international dimension of this regulation is essential since justas wild animals do not stop at borders, neither does any kind of pollution.Indeed, the protection of the ozone layer should not be globally addressed by only oneState,or by only a few of them. \nThis Lexicon, aimed at NGOs,lawyers, diplomats and students, follows the samemethod as the Lexicon of Human Rights -Les definitions des droits de I'homme, published by Martinus Nijhoff Publishers in 2008.Definitions related to theenvironment are gathered by extracting them from relevant universal scope texts. This ordered grouping of definitions will enlighten the reader about the prioritiesof the international community regarding environmental law.Defnitions areclassified in alphabetical order,in separate English and French lists. In eachlanguage there is an alphabeticallist of common terms witch the equivalent secondlanguage term in square brackets. The list gives the exact detailed meaning followedby the source of each term.Following this list,a lexicon of the same terms is givenunder such general themes as\"Mammals\",“Gas”,“Lead”.Finally,a list of relevantdocuments which can be referenced for further information is included. \nCEDRICVIALE,Ph.D(2003)in Law,University of Aix-en-Provence,has taughtat Universities in France,Iceland andJapan and
