This mark scheme includes any amendments made at the standardisation events which all associates participate in and is the scheme which was used by them in this examination. The standardisation process ensures that the mark scheme covers the students’ responses to questions and that every associate understands and applies it in the same correct way. As preparation for standardisation each associate analyses a number of students’ scripts: alternative answers not already covered by the mark scheme are discussed and legislated for. If, after the standardisation process, associates encounter unusual answers which have not been raised they are required to refer these to the Lead Assessment Writer.\nIt must be stressed that a mark scheme is a working document, in many cases further developed and expanded on the basis of students’ reactions to a particular paper. Assumptions about future mark schemes on the basis of one year’s document should be avoided; whilst the guiding principles of assessment remain constant, details will change, depending on the content of a particular examination paper.\nFurther copies of this Mark Scheme are available from aqa.org.uk\nCopyright © 2018 AQA and its licensors. The different parts of this question involve plotting and interpreting equations and graphs\n3)\t6991/2 June 2013 Q2\nG1, G6, G8. This question tests knowledge of exponential equations and graphs. \tStudents will need to be able to use and solve an exponential equation and sketch an \texponential graph.\n4)\t6991/2 June 2014 Q 1\nG1, G2, G3, G5. This question requires interpretation and plotting of a quadratic \tequation. Students will also need to find the gradient of the curve at a point and know what this represents\n5)\t6991/2 June 2014 Q5\nG1, G6, G8. This is another exponential question involving interpretation, solution \tand sketching from an equation\n6)\t4988 June 2012 Q 1\nG1, G2, G3. This question is of a lower demand than those set on the level 3 paper but is useful for students to understand the basic skills and knowledge needed for higher level questions. It concludes with the use of intersecting graphs to solve a real life problem.\n7)\tUOM/2 June 2015 Q2\nG6. This question tests a model using an exponential function and then uses it to predict future trends.\n8)\t6991/2 June 2008 Q3\nG6, G8. This question tests the use of the function ax including solving equations of that form and the sketching of different models.\n9)\t6991/2 June 2010 Q2\nG1, G6, G8.
