We have taught Resilience here for the last 5 years. We work hard to give our young people as many tools in their toolbox to cope with the vagaries of life! In the business of life, we need to stop, take a breath and mindfully move forward. \nExams \nPractice Mindfulness. A mindful person can choose what they focus on. Mindfulness is the ability to be calm and present. It is the skill of giving permission for each of us to create space around us, so that our worries/issues/mind chatter doesn’t consume us. Think about that for a minute. With the amount of distraction that we all have in our daily lives, is it any wonder that we get caught up in all that we do, and sometimes lose our perspective on life in the process. \nPractising mindfulness is a gentle reminder for me and for all of us as we go about our daily lives. But, as we work in a school, I can only comment from what we do here. Thereis so much happening leading up to the completion of this term. For example, winding up for the end of the financial year; finalising assessments; marking exams and CATs; writing reports; identifying; discussing and using student data to plan for each young person’s learning; attending meetings including visits from senior DE staff; community commitments; sport; home life and I could go on. \nWe need to stop! \nWe need to find some time to clear our mind and be fully present in the moment. \nCongratulation to students in Years 10 and 11 for completing their exams. This is excellent preparation for Year 11 and 12 exams over the next couple of years. Each time an exam is done, it is a new learning experience. Learning from previous exam experiences, even if students don’t plan on sitting VCE exams in the future, is still invaluable in controlling emotions, concentration, focussing on a task for an extended period of time, patience and being in the present. A skill that is being lost in this fast paced, immediate gratification world we live in. \nTimetable \n There will be some changes to the timetable beginning next term due to changing electives in Years 9 & 10. The timetable \n will be accessed on XUNO and will be posted on the web. \nWork Experience \n Wishing our Year 10 students all the best for their Work Experience week. Work Experience is a great opportunity to \n experience a ‘day in the life’ (or in this case a week) of a potential future profession. Sometimes this experience \n cements a career aspiration and similarly, it can be a ‘light bulb’ moment of realising that this isn’t the career for them. 􀃕 \nExcellamus-Let us Excel Mrs Fiona Miller -Principal \nWe acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land, the Barapa Barapa people, on whose land we attend school. We pay our respects to elders, past, present and emerging, for they hold the memories, traditions and culture of the First Nations people of Australia. \nSenior School Update \nATAR Notes – Free online July lectures \nATAR Notes offer a large range of FREE online lectures during the first week of the July school holidays. \nScan the QR code for the large range of lectures available – there are subject specific lectures, and others based on general advice regarding VCE, and University opportunities. \nYou have nothing to lose by registering.
