Also called ethyl alcohol  \no Advantages of Ethanol Blending:  \no Reduces Crude Oil Imports – Lowers India's dependence on imported crude oil and improves energy security.  \no Cleaner, Oxygenated Fuel – Ethanol contains  \noxygen, ensuring more complete combustion and reducing CO, HC, particulate matter, and greenhouse gas emissions.  \no Supports Farmers – Ethanol from sugarcane and maize provides additional income and boosts rural employment.  \no Improves Engine Performance – Its high octane number (108–109) reduces engine knocking and enables smoother combustion.  \no Disadvantages of Ethanol Blending:  \no Lower Fuel Economy – Ethanol has a lower calorific value (~21 MJ/L) than petrol (~34 MJ/L), so E20 may reduce mileage by 3–5% in some vehicles.  \no Engine Compatibility Issues – It can absorb moisture and may corrode older engines and rubber/plastic components.  \no High Water Consumption – Large-scale sugarcane cultivation for ethanol requires significant amounts of water.  \no Bio fuel: Type of fuel that is generated naturally or artificially from the biomass of plant or algae material and animal waste.  \no Types of Biofuels:  \no Biodiesel: Liquid Fuel produced from vegetable oilsand animal fat.  \no Biogas: Produced by anaerobic digestion of organic matter such as food or animal waste.  \no Biochar: It is the spectrum of black carbon, produced by pyrolysis of organic materials from forests and agricultural waste.  \nSea of Azov  \nTaganrog, a Russian port city on the Azov Sea, was targeted by Ukrainian drone strikes, triggering a fire at its seaport and prompting emergency measures.  \no The Sea of Azov is a shallow inland sea located between Ukraine (northwest) and Russia (southeast).  \no Connection: It is connected to the Black Sea through the Kerch Strait, which lies between the Crimean Peninsula (west) and the Taman Peninsula (east).
