It also outlines the MeghRaj government cloud platform for digital records under new criminal laws, and introduces the fully digital e-OCI portal for Overseas Citizen of India services, including eligibility, benefits, and limitations.","01 July 2026  \nJal Jeevan Mission  \nAmid a 40% June rainfall deficit, the Finance Ministry stressed strengthening the Jal Jeevan Mission through water conservation, recycling, and water buffers.  \no Jal Jeevan Mission is a centrally sponsored scheme launched in 2019 aims to ensure access to safe and sufficient drinking water for every rural household.  \no Ministry: Implemented by Ministry of Jal Shakti.  \no Objective: To provide Functional Household Tap Connections (FHTC) supplying 55 litres per capita per day of safe drinking water to every rural household.  \no Beneficiaries:  \no Rural households across India.  \no Also covers schools, Anganwadi centres, Gram Panchayat buildings, health centres and other public institutions in rural areas.  \no Priority Areas: Focus on quality-affected, drought prone, desert regions, and Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) villages.  \nMeghRaj Platform  \nThe Centre has decided that all digital records of investigationsand trials under the new criminal laws will be stored on the government-owned cloud platform, MeghRaj.  \no MeghRaj (GI Cloud) is the Government of India's indigenous cloud computing platform that provides secure cloud infrastructure for hosting and delivering egovernance services.  \no Launched in 2014, MeghRaj (GI Cloud) and MeghRaj 2.0 enhances it with hybrid cloud architecture and improved cybersecurity.  \no Objective: To enable cloud computing in government operations for faster e-service delivery, secure data storage, and optimized ICT expenditure.  \no Key Platforms: Powers DigiLocker, MyGov, National Scholarship Portal, and several other e-governance services.  \no Cloud computing means using storage, software, and computing power through the internet instead of keeping everything on your own device. It is like renting computer services when needed, rather than buying and maintaining expensive hardware.  \no Deployment Models:  \no Public Cloud: Cloud services delivered over the internet and managed by a third-party provider. \nOverseas Citizen of India (OCI)  \nThe Union Home Minister launched the new e-OCI portal to streamline Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card services through a fully digital platform.  \no Overseas Citizen of India (OCI): Introduced in 2005 amending the Citizenship Act, 1955, the OCI scheme grants overseas residency status (not dual citizenship) to eligible foreign nationals of Indian origin.  \no The Government of India via Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2015 merged the Person of Indian Origin (PIO) category with OCI category in 2015.  \no Eligibility:  \no A foreign national who was a citizen of India on or after 26 January 1950, or was eligible to become one.  \no Persons belonging to territories that became part of India after 15 August 1947.  \no Children, grandchildren,
