If this is the first time you have come across this journal you may wish to have a look at the earlier editions on the website [www.lasmuigh.com](www.lasmuigh.com). \nIn this our winter edition we have received a great diversity of submissions, and I would like to acknowledge our contributors and thank them for sharing their insights. \nThe key motivation in establishing Lasmuigh was to report on and inform good practice on the island of Ireland. To contribute to developing outdoor education with the sharing of these ideas and enabling those working within the sector to communicate what they are doing. With this in mind it is very positive to see the mix of contributor profile in this edition, with recent graduates from outdoor programmes to seasoned outdoor professionals, all sharing their wisdom and reporting on their work. \nThe articles this week span a wide variety of topics, from two longer-reads, one exploring the value of real adventure and another being a call to action regarding psychological safety in coaching in Ireland. Also included is wisdom earned through the hard school of experience, such as that gained from walking the length of New Zealand Aotearoa, to wisdom gained adapting early years outdoor education to the Irish weather. We also hear about the power of person-centred therapy in the outdoors and examples of what this might look like in practice. \nIn Lasmuigh we like to include poetic and artistic reactions to being outdoors and these are captured in two poems summoning up the ancient wisdom of Ballyseedy Woods and on reflections on the arrival of winter. Included also is an atmospheric account and photo of the precious treasure of a star filled sky. \nWe conclude this edition with a piece exploring the outdoor educator as an enchanter to woe us into a realisation of how we share our outdoor adventure spaces with other living things. \nWe hope you enjoy reading this issue, Stephen Hannon \n31st January 2025 \nSunrise, Ard na Gaoithe, Loch Corrib, January 2025 \nLasmuigh, January 2025 ~~ ~~ 03 \n Lasmuigh-Our Values \nWhat is Lasmuigh? \nLasmuigh is a professional practice journal that aims to both inform and reflect the field of outdoor education on the island of Ireland by reporting on and sharing good practice in Irish outdoor education.
