For those of you who do not know me, let me begin by introducing myself. My name is Mrs. Sherri Foster. I have taught a variety of grades and classes here at Lambton Park C.S. for many, many years. I am truly looking forward to continuing my work with each and everyone of your children. As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at school (416-394-3070), through your child’s agenda, or email at [sherri.foster@tdsb.on.ca](sherri.foster@tdsb.on.ca) \nWhere else you can find us on-line \n[www.schoolweb.tdsb.on.ca/lambtonpark](www.schoolweb.tdsb.on.ca/lambtonpark) \nFollow me/us on Twitter: \n@TDSB_SFoster and @LambtonParkTDSB \nNews from Room 309 September/October 2017 \nUpcoming Term \nHere are some of the topics that we’ll be covering this term: \nLanguage: Narrative Writing (All about Me project); Grammar/Punctuation use and Reading for Meaning; \nMath: Multiplication, Patterns and Algebra, Data Management, and Number Sense/Numeration \nSocial Studies: Living and Working in Ontario (3); Political and Physical Regions of Canada (4) \nScience: Soils (3); Rocks and Minerals (4) \nMusic: We will be receiving Recorder lessons from an itinerant teacher beginning at the end of September. \nFor a more complete understanding of the curriculum, please visit the Ministry of Education website: [http://edu.gov.on.ca/eng/curriculum/elementary/subjects.html](http://edu.gov.on.ca/eng/curriculum/elementary/subjects.html) \nTechnology/20Time \nIt is often said that 80% of all jobs in the future will require skills using technology. On the timetable, there are 2 periods a week dedicated to TechExplore/20Time. It is because of the statement above that I have scheduled these two periods in. What are they? Well, TechExplore is exactly that. I would like our students to explore the \ntechnology we have available in the class. We are very lucky to have 10 Chromebooks in our classroom for the students to use. My goal for this year is to introduce all students to their Google Drives (where they will save all their work – both unfinished and finished – so that they can access their work whenever they want to) and hopefully, Google Classroom (where they can complete short assignments online and submit them to me online) . As we slowly become more familiar with technology, I hope to have all students tweeting on our classroom twitter account. They will be showcasing their work in their postings. You will be able to see these updates by following us on Twitter. If you do not want to set up your own twitter account, you can still see our postings online by [visiting](visiting www.twitter.com/TDSB_SFoster)[ ](visiting www.twitter.com/TDSB_SFoster)[www.twitter.com/TDSB_SFoster](visiting www.twitter.com/TDSB_SFoster). \nThe idea behind 20Time comes from the Google 20% time project where their employees spent 20% of their time exploring ways to better the company outside of their regular ‘jobs’. In our class, the students will be collecting questions that they’d like answers to and spending this time exploring/researching/presenting the information they discover. \n\n| | Day 1 | Day 2 | Day 3 | Day 4 | Day 5 |\n| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |\n| 9:00-9:40 | Library (Ms. Morrone) | Language\u003Cbr>(Writing/ Guided Reading) | Language\u003Cbr>(Writing/","cbCaiedw5ao9QpJ3","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiedw5ao9QpJ3","pdf",803596,"English","# Upcoming Important Dates to Note\n# Welcome Back\n# Upcoming Term\n# Technology/20Time\n# Our Weekly Timetable (Week A/Week B)\n# Homework","[{\"question\":\"What are the key upcoming events in September and October 2017?\",\"answer\":\"The newsletter lists events including Sept 5 first day of school, Sept 21 curriculum night and the start of the book fair, Sept 25–27 CAT-4/CCAT testing, Sept 28 Terry Fox Walk, and Oct 4 school photo day, among others.\"},{\"question\":\"What topics will be covered during the upcoming term?\",\"answer\":\"It outlines Language (narrative writing, grammar/punctuation, reading for meaning), Math (multiplication, patterns and algebra, data management, number sense), Social Studies (Living and Working in Ontario; political and physical regions of Canada), and Science (soils; rocks and minerals).\"},{\"question\":\"How does the class plan to use technology and what is 20Time?\",\"answer\":\"Students will use Chromebooks, learn to save work in Google Drives, and complete online assignments via Google Classroom.
