While his mother patiently prepares him with humor and practical comfort, Ravi’s imagination and anxiety clash, and he bargains for aphid juice and the promise to “fly” there. Silly me. I meant aphids.’ \nRavi eyed his bowl suspiciously, then swallowed a spoonful. \nHmm, he preferred his aphids a little less soggy. \nBut he slurped his bowl clean. \nAfter all, Ravi was a hungry sort of ladybug. \nAphids \n‘Come on,’ said Mom.‘Let’s get ready for preschool. \nWe don’t want to be late on your first day.’But Ravi did not come on. \nHe folded his legs.‘Ladybugs don’t go to preschool.’ \nThen he zoomed into the garden to search for some fresh, crunchy aphids, his bright wings flapping bravely in the breeze. \nRavi knew this was untrue, but all his legs had goose bumps. \nSo, he got dressed, taking care not to squash his antennae or wrinkle his wings. \n‘Brrr!’Mom shivered.‘Ravi, here’s your sweater.’‘Ladybugs don’t wear sweaters,’ Ravi replied. \n‘They do when it’s chilly,’ said Mom.‘Otherwise, they get little icicles on their wing cases.’ \n‘Time for teeth!’ said Mom. \n‘Ladybugs don’t have teeth … but my mandibles could do with a clean – \nthey’re full of aphid guts.’ \nRavi showed Mom \nhis ooey, gooey \nmandibles. \n‘Oof! Disgusting!’ said Mom, laughing. \nRavi brushed his mandibles until they were sparkly. He grinned at Mom. \n‘Beautiful! Let’s go!’ \nRavi stopped smiling. \n‘I think I might stay home today and crawl around the veggie garden instead,’ he said in a small voice. \nMom stroked Ravi’s wings.‘You’ll like preschool, Ravi. There’ll be new friends to meet, and I’m sure you’ll get to do lots of painting!’Ravi fiddled with his antennae.‘OK,’ he said. After all, Ravi was an artistic sort of ladybug. \n‘But only if I can have aphid juice in my water bottle and ... we FLY there!’ \nOn the way, Ravi stopped to chat with friends. \nSnaffled a quick snack. \nAnd inspected lots of interesting things. \nAfter all, Ravi was a curious sort of ladybug. \n‘I want to go home,’ he whispered. \n‘I’m absolutely sure ladybugs do not go to preschool.’‘I’ll stay for a few minutes to check if they do,’ Mom whispered back. \nRAVI \nAs they turned the corner to preschool, Ravi hung back. \nBeneath his exoskeleton, his insides squirmed and churned.","cbCaifvTQr2TQDTR","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaifvTQr2TQDTR","pdf",4717728,"English","# Ravi’s breakfast argument\n# Getting ready for preschool\n# Bargains, friends, and snack time\n# Arriving at preschool","[{\"question\":\"What request does Ravi make before they go?\",\"answer\":\"Ravi agrees to go only if he can have aphid juice in his water bottle and if they “fly” there.\"}]","Ladybugs DO NOT Go to PreSchool | PDF",1791008996]
