Should I bring up how I almost wanted to become a horror screenwriter like Leigh Whannell and Eli Roth in the early 2000’s? Should I discuss the years of rewrites these six stories had gone through before ultimately taking my husband’s decision to write novels? So much flowing through my mind.  \nInstead, I’m just going to be thankful that these were even given some light of day for others to read and enjoy. I’m not going to lie and pretend I didn’t toss these aside for a few years to gather dust, picking up numerous other crazy hobbies along the way. Ultimately, after all the wait, I was actually able to finish these with a more creative extreme approach. Something my highest influential writer would have been happy to read; Richard Laymon. I remember passing Stephen King books up at the local bookstore and stumbling into Richard Laymon. The first novel I read by him, Resurrection Dreams, just stuck with me for a long ass time. I go back to that book and think, damn, I was way too young to be reading that kind of horror. But I absolutely loved it. I loved the gore and violence it displayed, while still having a developed story-line in place. I knew then, I wanted to write extreme horror.  \nNot just your average Blumhouse stories, but on the verge resembling French horror. I was greatly influenced by High Tension, Martyrs, Frontier(s), Inside, Salo, Trauma and more because they broke the boundaries and make us feel disgusted. But these kind of stories aren’t filled with slashers or make believe creatures. They’re full of human monsters and those are the most frightening kind.
