Diaz and Emmanuel N. Arnesto. Initially a creature used by elders to scare children into napping, Kurakog eventually becomes a savior of the village of Kamaligan. The story details a peculiar event where the Moon remains perpetually in the sky, causing the Sun to disappear. This celestial anomaly leads to widespread distress: plants wither, crops fail, the river overflows, and the village faces constant flooding. The desperate villagers plead with the Moon for respite, offering dried fruits, vegetables, sad songs, and dances, emphasizing their need for the Sun to return and restore balance to their lives. The narrative shifts from a tale of fear to one of unexpected heroism, highlighting the theme of overcoming challenges through community and the re-establishment of natural order. The imagery and vivid descriptions paint a picture of both the terrifying and benevolent aspects of the giant and the dramatic consequences of an imbalanced natural world, focusing on the importance of the Sun's presence for life and prosperity.","Kurakog the Giant Anthony B. Diaz \nEmmanuel N. Arnesto \n”Kokoy, if you don’t nap, Kurakog, the giant who lives on Mount Isarog, will take you.”That’s what the elders would say to scare me . Kurakog is a big creature . He can crush you like a bug. His walk shakes the coconut trees . His voice is deafening. \nWhen he cries, his tears can fill the river with \nwater. \nHis breath can move Mount Isarog and Mayon Volcano. Kurakog is a scary creature . Kurakog will take me . That’s what the elders would tell me if I didn’t nap in the afternoon. \nBut their story changed when Kurakog saved our village, Kamaligan. The formerly feared giant became a friend. \nThe Moon was huge that night. It was very bright, like the Sun in the morning. It was also very close, as if it were at the top of Mount Isarog. The people of Kamaligan shouted in astonishment. \nThe people rejoiced.”The Moon! The Moon! See! It will never be dark again!” \nEveryone gathered and gave thanks. They offered fruits and vegetables. They danced until midnight and sang. Someone played the guitar. Someone beat a drum. Someone whistled. \nThe next day, the Sun did not appear. The night went on, and the Moon remained. The people of Kamaligan went to sleep again and waited for the morning. \nBut the next day, the Sun again did not appear. \nThen the plants began to wither. The farmers’crops no longer bore fruit. Vegetables and fruits were not happy. \nThe river began to overflow. The village of Kamaligan was now always being flooded. \nPeople gathered to plead with the Moon. \nThey wanted it to rest so they could see the Sun. They offered fruits and vegetables again, but these were all now dry. They offered dances and songs, but these were too sad. The people of Kamaligan begged.”Oh, Moon! Oh, Moon! You are so beautiful in the sky, but we need the Sun!”","cbCaiqxzVuIB6FR5","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaiqxzVuIB6FR5","pdf",4993560,21,"English","en",105,"# Kurakog the Giant\n## The Moon's Unending Reign\n## The Village's Plight","[{\"question\":\"Who are the authors of \\\"Kurakog the Giant\\\"?\",\"answer\":\"The authors of \\\"Kurakog the Giant\\\" are Anthony B.
