Anŭn jing kar hăng sa sar boh khôih ƀlŭk prŏng yơh.  \nLong, long ago, when our island was just a coral reef in the warm tropical seas, something brown came bobbing on the waves and landed on the sandy shore. It was a brown nut.  \nÑu dŏ ƀơi anŭn sui biă mă, pơiă mơ̆ng yang hrơi laih anŭn rao hĭ mơ̆ng jơlah ia. Giŏng anŭn hơmâo sa hrơi hơmâo čơnŭh anet klâŏ hluh hĭ kơđuh blŭk jŭ̱ anŭn. Ñu prŏng tui hăng prŏng tui. Akha ñu tơbiă rai hăng pơlar tơbiă kar hăng khul čơđeng laih anŭn prŏng trŭn amăng lŏn. Khul jơlan ia păh čuah hăng go̱m hĭ boh khôih anŭn.  \nIt sat there for a very long time, warmed by the sun and washed by the waves. Then one day a tiny shoot pierced through its dark brown skin. It grew and grew. Its roots appeared and spread out like tiny fingers and grew into the ground. The waves washed up the sand and covered the nut.  \nMơak mơai biă mă ñu prŏng tui dơ̆ng hăng hơmâo lu hla laihanŭn khul čim rai dŏ amăng ñu. Gơñu djă̱ ba pơjĕh truh pơ plao ia pơtâo čur hơgŏm laih anŭn khul kơyâo pơkŏn čăt đĭ . Hơmâo sa hrơi, tơnah pơpư̆ hăng pơgơi grĭk grăk. Kơyâoanai jing kơyâo glông hloh kơ abih bang khul kơyâo pơkŏn,ƀuh ñu pô glông hloh yơh yuakơ ñu ră anai dŏ ƀơi tơnah glông. Rơsĭ jing dŏ ataih gah yŭ ră anai. Ñu ăt prŏng tuidơ̆ng.  \nHappily it grew more and more leaves and birds came to rest on it. They carried seeds to the coral reef island and other plants grew. One day, the groundshook and heaved. The plant which was taller than all the other plants, found itself even taller for it was now on higher ground. The sea was far below it now. It continued to grow.  \nAnŭn jing khăp pap hăng hơdjă hơdjel biă mă . 􀀭ơi gah ngŏ kơ hơmok ñu, kơyâo anŭn troă kar hăng sang khăn hla mơ̆ng anŭn yơh yang hrơi pơčrang trŭn. Hrơi mông rơgao hĭ laihanŭn kơyâo anŭn pơtơbiă rai boh. Boh anŭn tơsă laih anŭnrŭh trŭn ƀơi tơnah yơh. Ñu čăt akha laih anŭn prŏng tui karhăng sa sar boh ƀlŭk čăt đĭ hlâo adih yơh. 􀀭u sui ôh, bŏl čư̆ anŭn hơmâo lu kơyâo pơkŏn kar hăng kơyâo anŭn mơ̆n.  \nIt was graceful and slender. Right at the very top of its trunk, it wore a canopy of leaves through which the sunlight filtered. Time went by and it bore fruit. The fruit ripened and dropped to the ground. It took root and grew just like the first brown nut did.
