We hope that it is also useful for families, as well as service coordinators and providers who directly assist families and individuals with disabilities. \nThe focus of this manual is to provide easy-to-read information about available resources, and to provide immediate contact information for the purpose of applying for services and/or locating additional information. In many cases, we took definitions and eligibility for services directly from the agency websites that offer these programs. \nYou may notice that many of the resources listed in this manual are directly linked to regional Community Mental Health Centers. Often, and especially with children under the age of three and for adults, a local Community Mental Health Center will be the point of entry for an individual to gain access to many programs and services. For school-aged children and adolescents, the most direct route to services is often through the local public school system. \nThis product is the hard-copy version of the Disability Resource Manual created by the Human Development Institute. An online version of this manual with a site search engine is also available at [resources.hdiuk.org](resources.hdiuk.org . This website)[ . This website](resources.hdiuk.org . This website) has been tested for web accessibility and is accessible to screen readers. Alternate formats of this manual are available upon request. \nThe list of resources provided within this manual is not meant to be exhaustive. The purpose is to focus on resources available with a focus on individuals with developmental disabilities, though other related resources have been included. If you are aware of additional resources that are available and that should be included, we invite you to contact us. \nThank you. \nHuman Development Institute University of Kentucky \n126 Mineral Industries Building Lexington KY 40506 \n(859)257-1714 \n[www.hdi.uky.edu](www.hdi.uky.edu) \nFor updates, questions, or requests, please [contact](contact walt.bower@uky.edu)[ ](contact walt.bower@uky.edu)[walt.bower@uky.edu](contact walt.bower@uky.edu) \nTable of Contents \nRESOURCES FOR CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES ................................................ 5 \nOffice for Children with Special Health Care Needs (OCSHCN) ............................................................ 5 \nEarly Periodic Screening Diagnostic and Treatment Special Services (EPSDT) ..................................... 6 \nFirst Steps .............................................................................................................................................. 7 \nHANDS Program .................................................................................................................................... 8 \nHEALTHCARE AND INSURANCE RESOURCES ..................................................... 9 \nKentucky Health Benefit Exchange ....................................................................................................... 9 \nMedicaid Expansion ........................................................................................................................... 11 \nAdditional benefind Medicaid Guides ................................................................................................ 13 \nKentucky Children’s Health Insurance Program (KCHIP) .................................................................... 14 \nMedicare ............................................................................................................................................. 15 \nASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY ............................","cbCaibNM17JXvSsL","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaibNM17JXvSsL","pdf",645106,61,"English","# Resources for Children with Disabilities\n## Office for Children with Special Health Care Needs (OCSHCN)\n## Early Periodic Screening Diagnostic and Treatment Special Services (EPSDT)\n## First Steps\n## HANDS Program\n# Healthcare and Insurance Resources\n## Kentucky Health Benefit Exchange\n## Medicaid Expansion\n## Additional benefind Medicaid Guides\n## Kentucky Children’s Health Insurance Program (KCHIP)\n## Medicare\n# Assistive Technology\n## KATS Network and Regional AT Centers\n## Kentucky Assistive Technology Loan Corporation\n## KY AgrAbility\n# Education\n## Education and Students with Disabilities\n## Transition\n## Higher Education\n## Supported Higher Education\n# Community Living\n## Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Waiver\n## Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Long-term Care Waiver\n## Centers for Independent Living (CILS)\n## Hart-Supported Living Program\n## Home and Community-Based Waiver (HCB Waiver)\n## Homecare Program","[{\"question\":\"Who is the Kentucky Disability Resource Manual intended for?\",\"answer\":\"The manual is designed primarily for people with disabilities, and it is also intended to help families, service coordinators, and providers who assist individuals with disabilities.\"},{\"question\":\"How does the manual help readers apply for services?\",\"answer\":\"It provides easy-to-read information about available resources and immediate contact information for applying for services and finding additional details.
