What a fantastic feeling it is to finish up a school year without any lockdowns! It’s always difficult to summarise the highlights of our year, but I’ll do my best!
1. Return to normal
First and foremost, I can’t express how great it has been to see our school coming back to life after such a tough few years where so many sacrifices were made. Classes were pulsing with the sounds of learning, and the yard was once again filled with the sounds of laughter without being muffled by masks. School camps and excursions were rocking, lunchtime clubs were humming, and the school musical production was on fire. And last week it was fabulous to be able to come together with hundreds of students and families for the first time since 2019 to celebrate their achievements at the annual Presentation Evening. There are so many things that can be looked at fondly this year, but without a doubt the biggest highlight has been seeing our students, staff and families getting back to normal together. This is what it’s all about!
2. Significantly improved school climate
Despite the challenges of the last few years, including increases in enrolments from 1300 in 2018 to 1800 in 2022, our College has worked tirelessly together to improve our positive culture. This is evident in the strong and consistent improvements in our datasets, such as the annual DET Student Attitudes and Experiences of School Survey. This annual survey of all students across the state measures a range of indicators, such as our students’ experiences of effective teaching practice, relationships with their teachers and peers, learning confidence, social engagement, and student safety. As you can observe in the attached graphs, our school has gone from the bottom 49% of Victorian state schools in 2017 to now being a smidgeon outside the top 25% of all schools. This outstanding improvement is the result of outstanding collaboration between students, families and staff, and I would like to thank all of you for driving this positive change.
Speaking of our staff, I would also like to acknowledge the extraordinary work that they do, day in and day out, and for the passion and positivity that they exhibit. Without a doubt, our College is a fantastic place to work, and the data backs that up. We’ve worked really hard together to create a workplace where we work hard and strategically for our students and families, but also where we collaborate and learn together, and take care of one another. There has been exponential improvements in our annual Staff Survey over the last five years, and there is a strong correlation with our improved student outcomes. Regarding the figures attached, these are the percentages of positive endorsement; that is, the percentage of staff who responded beyond neutral. It doesn’t mean that the remaining percentage of staff were negative.
Key Dates
2023
All School Calendar dates now appear on Compass-we strongly encourage all parents to check for upcoming events through Compass, click on the Calendar Tab, then Public Whole School Calendar, you are able to view details in a Week or Month format.

| Monday, 30 January 2023
Students Return |
| --- |
| Wednesday, 15 to Friday, 17 February 2023
Year 12 Camp |
| Tuesday, 7 February 2023
School Photos
Thursday, 16 February 2023 School Photo Catch Up Day |
| Thursday, 23 February 2023
Whole School Athletics Carnival |
| Tuesday, 28 February 2023
Year 7 Immunisations |

68 Bemersyde Dr, Berwick, VIC 3806
Phone: 9707 7600
[Email: kambrya.co@education.vic.gov.au www.kambryacollege.com](Email: kambrya.co@education.vic.gov.au www.kambryacollege.com)[ ](Email: kambrya.co@education.vic.gov.au www.kambryacollege.com)CRICOS Provider Code: 00861K
Principal’s Message (continued)
Our Instructional Leadership also improved from 51% in 2017 to 71","cbCaia0m6K0AoRRE","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCaia0m6K0AoRRE","pdf",2783123,"English","# Principal’s Message
## Return to normal
## Significantly improved school climate
## Our capital works improvements
## Our senior school results
# Key Dates
## 2023 Calendar","[{"question":"What does the Principal emphasize as the main highlight of the year?","answer":"The Principal highlights seeing students, staff, and families getting back to normal together, including school events and achievements after recent disruptions."},{"question":"How does the newsletter describe improvements in school culture?","answer":"It reports strong and consistent gains in survey data, moving from the bottom 49% of Victorian schools in 2017 to just outside the top 25%, supported by the DET Student Attitudes and Experiences of School Survey."},{"question":"What capital works and facility changes are mentioned for the College?","answer":"The newsletter lists seating and covered area upgrades, new furniture, four new classrooms, renovations underway for key areas, and a planned two-storey junior school building with STEAM, robotics, systems engineering, plus new chemistry laboratories."}]","Kambrya College Newsletter 2022 Term 4 - Principal’s Message - Key Dates | PDF",1789908133]
