Pacific Time): Deadline to upload exam answer files  \nMore Bar Exam Dates and Deadlines  \nLaptop Registration Has Begun  \nThe Office of Admissions has begun sending out admittance tickets to applicants approved to take the exam. Once you receive your admittance ticket, look for an email from ExamSoft ([noreply@examsoft.com](noreply@examsoft.com)) with registration instructions. Please allow 48 hours between when your admittance ticket is approved by the Office of Admissions and receiving the email from ExamSoft. The email will explain the steps for installing the software and downloading the two mandatory mock exams so you can complete them by July 16. If you are still awaiting your admittance ticket, check the status of your application in the Applicant Portal.  \nWhy Are Mock Exams Required?  \nTaking the mock exams confirms that your laptop computer is compatible with Examplify, the remote-proctoring software, enables you to check that your microphone and webcam are working, and provides you the opportunity to familiarize yourself with procedures for opening, using, and uploading answer files before the exam. Typing a paragraph in each window enables you to ensure that your laptop has no typing/keyboard issues.  \nSee the instructional videos and guides on taking the mock exams. The second required exam includes sample California exam content. Each mock exam will take no more than 90 minutes to complete.  \nYou will receive an email confirmation after you have uploaded your mock exam answer files. Until you receive this email confirmation, you are NOT registered.  \nAdditional copies of the mock exams are available if needed to help familiarize you with the Examplify application. You’ll need Internet connectivity for downloading additional copies of the exam file and uploading exam answer files. NO internet connectivity is needed while taking the mock exams. Download additional copies of the mock exam at Examplify's website.  \nTip of the Week – Check Your Audio  \nA new feature in the software enables you to verify that your audio is being captured in compliance with exam rules. Please check this during your mock exam and again on exam day:  \nWhen you have logged into the exam, on the screen where you are prompted to take your picture, in the top right corner, click the Settings (Gear) icon, then Device Preferences.  \n1. Confirm that camera and microphone are selected and that you see your image.  \n2. Start speaking to verify that the bars next to the microphone display in green to indicate that your microphone is receiving audio signal.  \nNote: For optimal computer performance, the State Bar recommends using a laptop that exceeds the minimum requirements for memory and hard drive space.  \nYou must complete the two mock exams and upload the related exam answer files to complete the registration process. Doing so ensures that your laptop has been configured properly to use on exam day and to upload your exam answer files.  \nCommission Studies the Future of the Bar Exam  \nThe joint Supreme Court and State Bar Blue Ribbon Commission on the Future of the Bar Exam will hold its first meeting on July 6. The commission is charged with developing comprehensive recommendations concerning the California Bar Exam’s future, including whether and what changes to make to the exam and whether to adopt alternative or additional testing or tools to ensure minimum competence to practice law.
