When his officials killed King Amon of Judah, the people made his young son, Josiah, king. At that time, Josiah was only eight years old.  \nAfter he had been king for nearly eighteen years, Josiah decided to repair the Temple. He sent his secretary, Shaphan, to tell the high priest to pay the men repairing the Temple, using the money collected from the people.  \nAfter Shaphan had given Hilkiah, the high priest, those orders, the high priest showed Shaphan a book, which he had found in the Temple. It was the book that contained God's law for the people of Israel.  \nShaphan returned to King Josiah and told him that he had paid the money to the temple construction supervisors. Then he said,“Here is a book that Hilkiah found and gave me.”Shaphan began to read from the book. As he read it, Josiah tore his clothes in dismay.  \nThen Josiah said,“The Lord is very angry with us because our ancestors did not obey the words of this book. Ask the Lord what we are todo.”  \nSo, Josiah sent Hilkiah and others to Huldah the prophetess to tell her about what had happened. She told them,“The Lord fully intends to bring disaster on Jerusalem.
