Then Pharaoh put Joseph in charge as governor over all Egypt.  \nGenesis 41:43-46  \nJoseph explained to Pharaoh that there would be seven years with good harvests in Egypt. And that happened!  \nGenesis 41:47, 29, 47  \nDuring this time, Joseph was in charge of grain storage. He took part of every Egyptian farmer’s harvest and put huge amounts of grain in big storehouses.  \nGenesis 41:48, 49  \nThen came seven years with bad harvests. The hunger and famine were terrible in Egypt and nearby lands. Joseph was also in charge of grain distribution. Many people came to Egypt to buy grain from Joseph.  \nGenesis 41:53-57  \nThe famine was also in the land of Canaan where Joseph’s father Jacob and Joseph’s brothers lived. Jacob said to his sons,“I hearthere is grain in Egypt. Go to Egypt and buy food. Without food, we will die.”  \nGenesis 42:1-2  \nSo Jacob’s sons traveled to Egypt to buy grain. But Jacob did not permit his youngest son Benjamin to go.
