He is the great-grandson of Abraham and Sarah. As a young boy he watched sheep with his older brothers.  \nDuring this time in his life, he had two special dreams. One was about the sun, moon, and stars. He told the dream to his father and brothers.  \n\"Listen,\" he said, \"I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down tome . \" (Genesis 37:9)  \nThis did not make his brothers or his father very happy.  \nThere was another incident that caused Joseph's brothers to be very jealous of him. His father made him a very beautiful robe. This made them so angry that they could not speak a kind word to him.  \nOne day Joseph's brothers were grazing their father's sheep some distance away. Jacob sent Joseph to check on them.  \nWhen his brothers saw him coming, they plotted to kill him. They stripped him of his robe, and threw him into a cistern that had no water in it.  \nAs the brothers sat down to eat, they saw a caravan coming.  \nQuickly, they pulled Joseph from the cistern and sold him to the Ishmaelites.  \nIn Egypt, Joseph was sold to Potiphar, one of Pharaoh's officials. He was put in charge of Potiphar's household, and the LORD blessed Potiphar because of Joseph.  \nOne day, Joseph was attending his duties, and no one else was around, except Potiphar's wife.
