So one day God spoke to a man named Jonah and said,ȈJonah, I want you to go and preach to the people in Nineveh.\"  \n2  \nBut Jonah did not obey God. He decided to runaway from God so he would not have to go and preach in Nineveh.  \nJonah went to the harbour and found a ship that would take him to another country. He paid the captain for the journey and went onto the ship.  \n3  \nWhen the ship had sailed away from land, God made the wind blow very strong. A terrible storm hit the ship and everyone was afraid it would sink.  \n4  \nThe captain of the ship found Jonah in the bottom of the ship sound asleep! ȈJonah, wake upȉ he said, ȈThe ship is about to sink! Get up and pray to your god. Maybe he will save us.ȉ  \n5  \nThe sailors cast lots to see who was to blame for this terrible storm. This told them that Jonah was to blame so they asked him,ȈWho are you and why is this happening to us?ȉ  \n6  \nJonah told them he was running away from God so he wouldn’t have to obey Him. The sailors were amazed and asked Jonah what they could do so God would make the storm stop. Jonah said, ȈI disobeyed God. Throw me overboard and the storm will stop.\"  \n7  \nThe captain did not want to throw Jonah into thesea. The sailors worked hard to get the ship back to the land. But the storm was too strong for them and the ship was about to sink.  \n8  \nFinally the captain decided they would have to throw Jonah into thesea. So they picked him up and threw him overboard. The storm stopped at once and thesea became calm just as Jonah said it would.  \n9  \nBut Jonah did not drown because God had prepared a big ٱsh to come and swallow him. Jonah was in the stomach of the big ٱsh for three days and nights.
