He told them He would forgive their sins if they took a perfect looking lamb and ended its life. A sin is a naughty thing we do or a bad thought we have. Now, God wanted to make a new promise. It would be a new way-now and forever-for people to be forgiven of their sins. This new promise would be for Jesus, His only Son, to die instead of the lambs. Jesus was called the“Lamb of God” because He was the only perfect person to ever live.  \nPalm sunday  \nJesus loves everyone. He told people about God, healed sick people, and performed many other miracles. Now it was time for Him to leave our world and go back to Heaven and live with God His Father. Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey that had never been ridden before. The people who loved Jesus welcomed Him like a hero. They broke off palm branches from trees and took their coats and laid them on the road as a sign of great love and respect. However, Jesus cried as He rode into the city. He was sad, because many people didn’t believe He was God’s Son, sent to save them. Other people did not like Jesus at all.  \nThe Last Supper  \nIt was Thursday, four days after Palm Sunday, and Jesus looked forward to having a special dinner with His 12 closest friends, the disciples. Jesus told them that whenever they ate the bread and drank the wine, they should remember all the love and forgiveness He had for them. One of the disciples, Judas, left to tell some bad men where they could capture Jesus. Jesus knew what he was going to do, but He allowed him to do it.  \nWashing of feet  \nDuring dinner, Jesus got up from the table and poured some water into a big bowl. He loved His friends very much and wanted to show them how to love and help others the way He did. Jesus washed His friend’s feet, but Peter wanted to wash Jesus’feet. Jesus said, “No Peter, I must serve you, so you can learn to serve others.”Peter understood and said, “Then wash my hands and head too!”  \nWalk to gethsemane  \nAfter dinner, Jesus and His friends sang a song praising God as they walked to a garden. Singing also helped them feel peaceful. The garden was just past the city gates. Jesus was sad, because soon He would have to leave His friends.  \nPraying in the garden  \nIt was nighttime and Jesus came to a garden to pray to God His Father. He asked His friends Peter, James, and John to stay close by Him. While Jesus prayed, His friends fell asleep. Jesus felt all alone. He was very sad. He knew what was going to happen to Him. Bad men were going to capture and hurt Him. Jesus knew He had to let them do this, so that God’s wonderful plan of forgiveness could happen.  \n6.  \nBetrayal & Arrest  \nSuddenly, many soldiers came to the  \ngarden to take Jesus away. Judas was one of Jesus’  \nfriends, but tonight he did a bad thing. Judas took the soldiers to Jesus.  \nJudas was paid 30 pieces of silver. Peter got very angry and cut off a soldier’s ear with a sword. Jesus said, “No Peter, don’t hurt others!”Jesus healed the man’s ear! Then He said to the soldiers, “Take me, but let my friends go.”Then all of Jesus’friends ran away.  \ntrials & condemned  \nVery early Friday morning, the soldiers took Jesus to their wicked religious leaders. They spit on Jesus and hit Him. They were jealous of Jesus, because people started to listen more to Jesus than to them. They wanted Jesus gone forever.
