The number of job postings increased almost 7% from December to reach 26,438 jobs. This is an almost 40% increase from the same time last year. Software Developer remains the top occupation in both numbers and growth. The position grew 69% from 2018 to reach over 6,000 jobs. The second fastest growing occupation is Computer and Information Systems Managersat 67% growth.  \nJava remains the top skill most requested in job postings. However, Python is the fastest growing skill at 99.8% growth from January 2018. The Professional, Scientific, and Tech industries employ the highest number of tech professionals with over 3,400 positions open. The information industry, though, is the fastest growing, followed by the manufacturing industry at 99.1% and 96.6% growth, respectively.  \nSUPPLY & DEMAND SNAPSHOT: KUBERNETES  \nThough it may not be on the top ten list, Kubernetes is a rapidly growing skill in the tech employment market. Since January 2018, jobs requiring Kubernetes skills increased over 290% . A recent study by [Indeed.com](Indeed.com) confirmed that it was the most searched skill on the job search site. Job seekers searched for Kubernetes 170% more than they did last year. This month, we take a closer look at the employment market surrounding that skill set.  \n• Demand Pressure: Over the course of January 2019, there were 919 jobs requiring Kubernetesin North Carolina. In a reflection of the current talent shortage, there is an average of 7 job openings for each candidate in the state. Nationally, this increases to 11 jobs per candidate.  \n• Certifications: The two most widely recognized Kubernetes certifications are Certified  Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) and the Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) .
