Although they \nhav e diffe re nt le v e ls of de t ailing and finish, the sk e t c h, the pre se nt ation drawing and the w orking drawing share many c haracteristics . The w ord design is both a n ou n and a v e rb . The same is v alid for the w ord drawing. The reis an inhe re nt ambiguity in both of the se notions . This double-edg e d ne ss is probed fur the r in the w ork that follow s . \nThe drawing is a me diating ar t e fac t . I t is a mat e rialis ation of the ide as of the ar c hit ec t in the sk e t c hing proc ess , and it inst r uc t s the builde r or c rafts pe rson on how t o translat e the se ide as int o matt e r . But it also inst r uc t sthe designe r – the pe rson who draw s . Drawings infor m thought s , which lead t o more drawings , w hich lead t o more thought s , and so the w he e l spins. That is the proc e ss of design . \nSinc e archit e c t s t e nd to draw w hat they c an build, and build w hat they c an dr aw, as st at e d by archite c t and author William Mit c hell, the limit ation s of t he drawing will alw ay s affec t the ar c hit ec t ure and vice v e rsa . I strongly belie v e that the limit ationsin this c ase are n ot t o be se e n as some thing ne gativ e pe r se , rather , they ac t as a ne c essar y framew ork that le t sus handle a c omple x r e ality. \nConsidering that the re c an be ce r t ain gains inhe re nt in the r e duction of re ality int o a drawing, I hav e tried t oc re at e alt e r nativ e drawing t ec hnique sand re pre se ntational me thods t o use as bo th a design me thod and as p re se nt ation material for the outline s of a design projec t . \nInventing drawings hav e bee n the main the me and the guiding w or ds in the making of this thesis . \nK e yw ords : R e pre se nt ation, Drawings , Design me thodology, Sk e t c he s \nIntroduction \np . 1 - Subje ct \np . 2 - Thesis que stions \nTrack I: Understanding Representations \nI .
