Art education has the aim to teach students to \ndevelop their visual imaginative abilities by using their \nexperiences of reality and visualizing these experiences. \nArt when integrated with mathematics seamlessly \nbecomes the medium of teaching learning process and \ndifferent concepts can be easily grasped in a joyful \nmanner. Students in school where arts are an integral \nprogramme of an academic programme tend to have an \nacademic advantage over students for whom that is not \nthe case. This study enables teachers to develop \nunderstanding of art appreciation in the context of school \neducation. Moreover, integrating maths with arts meets \nthe need of diverse learning styles and multiple \nintelligences. Lastly, the pleasant effects of artistic \nexperiences may help kids to enjoy maths more or to \nalleviate maths anxiety. It is the hope of this research to \nshow new and experienced teachers the perceived benefits \nof an arts-based mathematics program on student \nachievement and engagement in mathematics. \nAdditionally, this research strives to provide educators with tools and an introductory framework for implementing an arts-based approach to mathematics in their classroom. \nKeywords—Mathematics, Arts, Integration, teaching and learning \nIntroduction \nArt integrated learning \nAccording to Cambridge dictionary, Integration means the \naction or the process of combining two or more things in an \neffective way. Whereas Art means the making of objects, \nimages, music, etc. that are beautiful or that express feelings. \nArt Integrated learning is a process by which students are \nengaged in art activities and learning and understanding of the \nconcept is done while performing the activity. \nIn Gita Bitan, Rabindranath Tagore said “When I see the \nuniverse through my songs, I recognize it, then only I know \nit ” \nArts include both form visual and performing arts. Visual arts \nare those forms that creates the visual image such as drawing, \npainting, crafts, etc. Performing arts are the form of art where \nperformance is given and audience may be there, some of the \nexamples are drama, music, dance, etc. Any form of art gives \nthe learner a way to express his/her feeling, thoughts. The \nlearner can learn, discover and experiment with themselves \nthe way they enjoy the process of learning and work \naccording to that. \nIn art integrated learning, art play an important part in curriculum not only as a subject as it provide learning exposure and engagement with students mind and body and helps learners to learn many skills and use them. Through use of arts the learner will be able to develop all the three domains of Bloom’s Taxonomy i.e., cognitive, psychomotor, and \naffective thus, helps in the holistic development of the learner. \nThe NCF 2005 has recommended “Art as a subject at all stages covering all four major spheres, i.e., music, dance, visual arts and theatre…. We must bring the arts squarely into the domain of the curricular, infusing them in all areas of learning while giving them an identity of their own at relevant stages. \nHow to add art in primary level curriculum \nPrimary school gives the base that a person uses in their higher education and in daily life. Adding art in primary level curriculum plays an important role it will make their learning joyful and will help them in developing interest in studies and they will start exploring different fields of education and also different methods they can learn.Art subject is linked directly or indirectly with other school subjects of school curriculum.
