1939 at theAmerican Academy in Rome,and dur-ing her years of teaching at The Uni-versity of Texas completed two-thirdsof her doctoral work in Latin.At thesame time she was Secretary of theClassical Staff,Assistant Editor of theLatin Leaflet,a publication in the in-terest of the Latin teachers in thehigh schools,1944-1950,and Editor ofthe Latin Week issue,1944-1950.Sheorganized and sponsored the Univer-sity Classical Club for fifteen yearsand served on several committees forthe Classical Association of the MiddleWest and South.She was Chairman ofthe Classical Languages Department,First Summer Term,1951.  \nFor her translation of Cervantes deSalazar's Dialogues,The University ofTexas Press,1953,Mrs.Shepard waslisted in The Directory of AmericanScholarsin Who's Who in the Southand Southwest,and in Who's Whoof American Women.She is a memberof Phi Beta Kappa,Delta Kappa Gam-ma,Honorary Women Teachers Fra-ternity,and Eta Sigma Phi,HonoraryClassical Fraternity.She was a recipi-ent of the Bromberg Good TeachingAward in 1955;and of a Hogg Foun-dation Travel Grant to the HazenFoundation Counselors'Conference inPittsburgh,1954  \nMrs.Shepard was a Founder andformer President of the
