The purpose of this research was to find out the mind mapping method in improving students vocabulary. The objectives of this study are (1) To find out the students’ vocabulary achievement before using the interactive mind mapping method, (2) To find out the students’ vocabulary achievement after using the interactive mind mapping method, (3) To find out whether there is an improve student’s English vocabulary through interactive mind mapping method achievement significantly. (4) To find out the students’ perception of the use mind mapping to improve their vocabulary. Pre-experimental research was used in this study method. In this study, the researcher collects the data by using the tests and questionnaire. The researcher uses the statistical calculation with SPSS in data analyzed. The sample of this research is one class from 7th. The class has 31 students. As a results , it can be witnessed from the mean of pre-test and posttest. In pre-test result is 81,4. After being given treatment,the post-result is 86,9 . Moreover, the hypothesis result showed that Ha is accepted. Because, T-count was higher than T-table (2.846 > 1.710), it indicates that there was a significantly improving vocabulary using mind mapping method.  \nKeywords: Mind Mapping Method, Improving, Vocabulary.  \nA. Introduction  \nVocabulary is essential to learning a language, teaching vocabulary has a significant impact on students' language acquisition since vocabulary mastery aids in the development of all other language skills, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The more vocabulary a learner has, the more proficient they are at practicing and expressing themselves. Students'vocabulary helps them communicate in everyday situations and reinforces  \nthe concept that they can convey ideas, thoughts, and feelings in English. Worldwide, people have utilized the English language for contact and communication in order to accomplish a variety of goals.  \nVocabulary is the main key that we must have so that students'English skills are much better. So, learning vocabulary is very important to improve our skills in English.(Agustina et al. , 2019) . However, in reality there is still low vocabulary mastery at SMP N 32 Semarang.  \nBased on interview data with English teachers at SMP N 32 Semarang, it was generally found that students had difficulty understanding the meaning and expressing thoughts, thoughts, both through writing and orally due to students' limited vocabulary.  \nThe use of the mind mapping method in teaching vocabulary can lead students to truly understand and remember the meaning of the vocabulary words they learn easily. As they increase their knowledge of words and their meanings in different contexts, they build self-confidence and become more active learners (Sipayung, 2018) .  \nThe following are the reasons for selecting this topic:  \n1. Vocabulary is one of the important thing and the most basic way of learning English  \n2. Most of the 7th grade students at SMP N 32 Semarang did not learn English when they were in elementary school, so their vocabulary skills were very low.  \n3. Most of the 7th students at SMP N  \n32 Semarang is still have difficulty knowing the meaning of the vocabulary in the lesson  \n4.
