Halting the progression of colonic adenoma through adequate detection of pre-cancerous lesions interrupts the progression to carcinoma. The adenoma detection rate is a key performance indicator. Increasing adenoma detection rates are associated with reducing rates of interval colorectal cancer. Endoscopists with high baseline adenoma detection rate have a meticulous technique during colonoscopy withdrawal that improves their adenoma detection. This minireview article summarizes the evidence on the following simple operator techniques and their effects on the adenoma detection rate; minimum withdrawal times, dynamic patient position change and proximal colon retroflexion. \nKey Words: Colonoscopy; Minimum withdrawal times; Dynamic position change; Proximal colon retroflexion \n©The Author(s) 2023. This minireview summarizes some of the non-technological techniques that have shown the potential to improve the adenoma detection rate. \nCitation: Rajivan R, Thayalasekaran S. Endoscopist techniques to improve neoplasia detection \nINTRODUCTION \nColorectal cancer is the 3rd most common cancer globally [1] occurring in 8% and 12% of all new cancer cases in the USA and UK, respectively[2] . Most colorectal cancers develop via the adenoma-carcinoma sequence [3,4] . Sessile serrated lesions are also recognised precursor lesions to colorectal cancer via the CpG island-methylated pathway[5] . The polyp and adenoma detection rate is defined as the number of colonoscopies where at least one polyp and adenoma are detected respectively [6] . \nColonoscopy remains the gold standard investigation for the dete","cbCainyiFn7Z9Csa","https://ap.wps.com/l/cbCainyiFn7Z9Csa","pdf",504091,15,"English","# Introduction\n## Adenoma detection rate as a performance indicator\n## Operator techniques to improve polyp detection\n## Withdrawal time definition and evidence","[{\"question\":\"What is the adenoma detection rate (ADR) and why is it important?\",\"answer\":\"ADR measures the proportion of colonoscopies where at least one polyp or adenoma is detected.
