Why does this matter?  \n• Many members’ memberships expired on March 31.  \n• The Jewel Awards tally restarts!  \nRenew Your Membership!  \nMany of our members have life memberships. However, some have annual memberships or have prepaid their dues for 3 to 5 years. Thus, a lot of memberships expired on March 31. We need current members to renew. We will also need some volunteers to help us reach out to lapsed members, to encourage them torenew.  \nReaching Out  \nThe national organization will give our chapter 50¢ for every current-year lapsed member we con-  \ntact between June 1 and August 1. The contact can be by letter, email, postcard, social media, or phone call or text message. This is a fun activity for people who like to have excuses to talk to other smart people.  \nReasons to Renew!  \nThe best way to encourage people to renew their memberships is to enhance the value of membership. The best way to do that is to plan events. See page 12 for the results of a survey on events and page 13 for our events calendar and how to schedule events.
